The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good luck!! Close by would be nice, so you don't have to negotiate a big place you're not used to, right away.

Woohooo! Good luck with the job interview, Rosie!

Well, I just got in and as I suspected, the main streets were clear. It was just my driveway! Now there's only a strip of about 4 feet of ice up under where the eave of the house is. So I just drove carefully over that and got the car safely in the garage.

We are IN for the night! :-)

Evenin'. Reporting in from my favoritest place in the whole wide world: at home with my honey. 'Twas a long day. Cooked up more of that Dreamfields pasta. Made a dish of 'grilled' chicken and penne pasta in a parma rosa sauce. Not too bad at all. The pasta is spendy but awfully good. The serving sizes are really generous and only 5 carbs per.

Going to watch AI tonite and work on garden schematics.

We just had an interesting development.

A law-enforcement type (He wasn't sherrif's dept, but rather DNR or Fish and Wildlife, not quite sure which) just knocked on the door over at RosiesNewPlace and was asking for the prior tenant at first... it seems someone dumped a bunch of garbage and carpet (21 truck loads I'm guessing) on one of their access roads and among the trash was that address with the name of the old tenant.

Unknown whether the landlord was complicit in the illegal dumping or whether the handyguy ripped him off on dump fees. It all depends I guess on how much he paid the guy to get rid of all that crap they hauled last week.

If he'd have gone along with the original deal, we'd have done it right. It might have taken longer, but I imagine what happens next will be a big pain for the landlord.

The law-enforcement type...is he married? Catholic?

;-)

Seriesly...that woulda shook me up a bit having someone knock like that! I get shaky if the Jehovah's Witnesses knock!

He went to the store to talk to the landlord... and made a point of saying "Don't say anything else... you guys don't know anything about this, I was never here"

Not really all that weird at all. As high as dump fees are, illegal dumping in the woods is a pretty common problem. It probably would have cost a few hundred dollars to dump all that at the landfill.

Is he still over at the store??

I mean, you can easily find out if he's married...look for a ring! I know it's not sure fire, but it's a start!

How does one discreetly find out if someone is a Catholic, I wonder?

If he looked anything like that, Rosie needs to start dumping illegally! LOL!

He's not at the store.

Heh...you're crackin' me up! That's not exactly a thought that occurred to me. Actually he was a little on the older side anyway.

But it did surprise me just a bit. Wasn't expecting a knock on the door, and then when it turned out to be a very tall guy in law enforcement uniform...I didn't know what to think!

Hope it's something easily resolved. And if it does turn out to be just the handyguy's fault, I think in future I wanna call in a repair guy myself if I need one.

I don't think these are questions they usually answer when they're on an investigation. ;~D
