The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I do, but don't have cable. But tonight, I'm watchin' over here.

I'm not staying there yet. Getting close, though.

What about the porch? I remember thinking it needed shoring up a bit. Other than that, the mildew (easily fixed) was the only thing that looked to need fixin' on the outside.

Our house has the same green stuff on the outside in some spots.

I think it's going to be lovely when you get all done!

Did they haul off a bunch of junk?

I love stuff like this and I really wish I could be there helping! I really work like a fiend when I'm on a mission! (Remember when I did the flylady?)

I'm glad you like the picture!! I thought it would make the place a little 'homier'.

And you've hooked Rosie on it.

Poor thing. ;-)

The front porch is pretty well set. There's a little porch in the back that needs a piece of plywood on top and a step repaired, but nothing too much.

And most of the junk is hauled off. There's still a lot of smaller stuff, but the carpet and bigger things are gone.

I imagine I'll find a TON if I try to dig up an area for a garden, though, durn it.

You know, our neighborhood, before it was a neighborhood, back in the 40s and 50s, was a fruit tree orchard! (Bein' as I live in the Garden Spot of Oklahoma). Anyway, to this day I'll be digging in my garden and I'll pull up bits of barbed wire fence! I don't keep it, but I think it's kinda neat...a little glimpse of the history of my land.

Is most of your stuff moved in, or are you keeping it in the van until everything's done with the place?

Heh...I'm thinking the stuff I find won't be quite so quaint...

You aren't paying attention!

I spent most of the afternoon movin' stuff in. There are a few little things left in the van just 'cause I got lazy, but the rest is inside, in varying stages of unpacked.

Sorry. I'm tired and still a little out of it from the weekend :-)

By the way they didn't do anything quite navel-gazing enough to make us walk out - the one your brother went to must have been baaad. Or he just wasn't as eager to get married as we are ;-)

Well, I hope you can post some more pictures soon, but I gotta log off...Steve'll be home in about half an hour and I've got to get the kitchen cleaned up from supper! Been freeping and shirking my duty! LOL!

See ya!

Well...his was in the diocese of San Francisco. I think they did stuff along the lines of liturgical dance. He would NOT go for that.
