Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And there are many paths to tread
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Are you traveling to a cooler climate? Clearly I haven't been paying attention.

Wait... if all I need are cats, I can get those without half the hassle... heck I can get a cat this afternoon.

Y'all are gonna need this until September...

Make sure you get a Maine Coon cat ... they're oversized, and very furry ...

Hey Sam,
We got a little less than 2 inches of snow. I posted some pictures here.
West of here got more. My parents got about 5 inches and were getting a little more yesterday. But it's supposed to warm up this week.

I'll get a humidifier for the girls' room when I get up there, just to ease them into the change of climate. Seems plently humid here to me :~D
It's so humid it's damp ;~D

Those are pretty pictures, poetic, really. Does Junior still get excited when it snows? I confess that I do, even at my age. 'Course growing up in VA, we always got some snow, but never enought to satisfy us as kids. My daughter, who grew up in Miami, but went to college in upstate NY, allows as how she has had enough of it.

I think moving in the summer is wise ... lots of time to get into the rhythm of thenewplace.
To: Sam Cree
Jr. only cares about snow if 1) it means no school (it didn't) or 2) it means he can't see his girlfriend (it didn't).

Heh...Rush just said "Would you rather go hunting with Dick Cheney or riding in a car over a bridge with Ted Kennedy?"
To: HairOfTheDog
I'd only use it if the heater dried out their noses, but you've brought up a good point.
Why not just toss them outside? :-D

I'd only use it if the heater dried out their noses, but you've brought up a good point. I've got one little 2 qt. humidifier. I also put one of those plastic basins filled with water in front of the heat register in the bedroom. Of course The Cat likes to drink out of it.

A dab of A+D Ointment in each nostril every night will prevent nose bleeds during the day in this cold, dry weather. (You can probably find it next to the Butt Balm)
To: Overtaxed
Of course The Cat likes to drink out of it. So will Alyson, most likely. :-P

My daughter, who grew up in Miami, but went to college in upstate NY, allows as how she has had enough of it.GAK! In Syracuse I'm sure she did!
When we were looking at college info for Clare this past year, we check out Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. I thought it was hilarious that the buildings all over their campus are connected by underground walkways! That way, they never have to cancel classes because folks can't get to the buildings. After all, I think their total snow averages over 50' for the season! I don't even want to imagine that! Needless to say, Clare decided she didn't want that either. She's planning to attend school down your way, in Naples FL! She's finishing up her admissions package this week. The deadline is March 1st, so we hope to hear sometime in April.
