The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, but babies wouldn't make much more fuss over fish flavor than nasty bubblegum stuff anyway.

Is it genetic in domesticated animals? Heh...I just don't get it!

Well, power just shut off here at the office. We're running on generators now. :-/

I need a drink.

Isn't the Carter family from your part of VA, more or less?

They were from Scott County (also home of Jerry Kilgore). That's a couple hours west of where I grew up.

Good to see you Sam. How's the Mrs.?

That's the funny thing. You couldn't ask for a prettier day.

Maybe someone took out a light pole down the street again.

She is doing quite well, thanks, though still low on energy, as one would expect. The clot that she threw is of some concern at the moment, so we are looking for the right hematologist.

I'm on Sunset and 102. Power's back, but flickery.

Give Jeanne a great big hug from me. I'll ask around and see if anyone knows a great hemo-doc.

Heh...Jen showed me how to use the internet magic so's I can continue watching LOST and that after I leave. ...

So I watched this week's American Idol, just for the fun of it. I can see how it'd be more gripping later on once they narrow things down, but I confess, I enjoyed it. Dang, Simon is mean to some of 'em, though. Even for the good ones, he didn't usually do any praising - just didn't say anything.

The little cowboy dude cracked me up. I dunno how good he is as a singer, but he's awful cute, in a goofy puppydog kinda way.

The little cowboy dude who sings to turkeys? He is adorable. :-)

Things will get really good next week!

....I need to learn some internet magic too! I chose to miss a bit of LOST last night since something far more interesting came up. :-)

I missed the episode where he said he'd only sung to turkeys. ;-) My sister told me about that one, though. Apparently they're all hooked this season, though they hafta have folks record it for 'em.

Is next week when they cut it down to just 24?

Ooh...and I just got an e-mail about the snowshoes...forgot that ad was even still up. I'd decided I'd just bring 'em - should have some places to use them.

But cash would be nicer right now...

We'll see!

Landlord says he's gonna pressure wash and paint your place today...

Huh... Really, though it's nice, it's way too cold to paint.

Don't sell off your hobbies!
Well I guess cash is handy but still...

Well...the instruments aren't being sold, and those are my biggest hobby. I do like snowshoeing, but I'm guessing in WA there are places where you can hike year 'round, so I can live without 'em until I can afford to replace 'em.

I haven't used them in two winters anyway. Sad, really.

Are y'all getting some of the storm coming up the East Coast tomorrow into Sunday? SirKit is supposed to fly out to Portland Sunday evening. We're hoping the runways will be clear by then. I think it's supposed to start here on Sat. afternoon and the weather folks are predicting 8-14". I'm doing the grocery shopping today so I don't have to fight the crowds tomorrow morning!

It's interesting!

I don't know if my complaints paid off about how junky the place looked or if he's gotten inspired to make the place look better all on his own.

In all fairness, he's probably never made money on the place. He put money into it, supposedly, last time, and they trashed it and never paid rent.
