The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

And you're ready when a spontaneous game of street bowling breaks out.

Ha! Or there's that.

I imagine the cats would get in the way all the time, but that could be entertaining, too...sorta...

You never know when that might occur!

And it doubles as a weapon.

I know he hasn't gotten back... that's part of my concern. Are we going to be begging and pleading for him to get stuff done quickly... But part of his reluctance to communicate might be language too.

You know Rosie... I see potential in it for the short term if he'll fix the bathroom... but it'll never be glamorous.

A fireplace, a Christmas tree and carpeting.

In a bathroom.

*shakes head*

I'm just trying to think what my other options are. The rent free deal means it's probably not a bad deal to do the work over the next few months, provided he does his part of things.

But after that...well, I wonder. Not that I need anything fancy, and I really want something other than an apartment, but...

All she's gotta do is spray paint it with metallic paint. It would make for a perfect gazing ball.

Yeah, I could see the fireplace. What with the big windows making that room icy during the winter and all.

But I'll never understand carpet in a bathroom.

Then again, I live in a house with zero carpeting. Tile is easy to clean and keeps the house cooler (and the A/C bill lower).

Okay...replace the carpet with tile and use throw rugs in the winter.

Well, then come if you still want to... we'll make it work. And once we're in it, we can be re-evaluating it as we go.

You can stay here until we've got the kitchen/living/bath/bedroom fixed up, you can shower here and laundry here till the other bathroom gets fixed and we can find you a washer and dryer at a garage sale.

To: no one in particular
My day so far:

Morning teleconference: "Maybe we should telecon this afternoon and decide xyz..." "Sounds good!"

Afternoon teleconference: "Alright, maybe we should get a small group together to decide xyz." "Ok."

Afternoon teleconference #2: "Alright, maybe Joe Schmoe and I can discuss this and call you back."

Me: "No! Let's decide it right now! Now! Now! Now! Lets do xyz!"
Them: "Ok, lets do xyz. I'm gonna call those other guys and tell them. Wonder if I can get them all back for a teleconference."

Seriesly. I didn't even exaggerate.

If you're going to redo a bathroom, redo it well!
