The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They don't? How can anyone live that way?

Well, let this be a lesson to those employers.

Find someone good, better hang on to them before they're gone.

I have friends who say they don't check their e-mail except every couple of days. I'm astounded by that! I do so much by e-mail, I can't fathom not having it there, all the time!

Maybe it's because of the homeschooling, since I'm on three different message boards, and Moderate one of them. I just don't like being out of touch. Probably my nosy nature. ;o)

I get twitchy if I can't get to mine...or to FR. ;-)

Grr...I need ta just get this phone call over with, but I've managed to stall all morning. Did at least get most of the remaining furniture up on Craig's List, complete with pictures. I'm waiting on the bed, though I suppose I could always say "I'm selling it, but would like to wait on pick-up and payment until [day before I leave]."

That's perfectly reasonable. Just say the bed is for sale, but not available for pick up until whatever date. You may want to set it two days before you leave to give them an extra day in case of emergency, bad weather, etc. You've got the air mattress, so you could do a night on that if necessary.

I'm kinda doing some decluttering before getting ready to take pictures of the bed for posting. My room is a disaster area! Jen mentioned there wasn't any reason I couldn't start putting boxes in the van - stuff I'm not going to mail. So...I'm starting to set those to one side to carry down in a bit.

And I still haven't made the darn phone call. Now I really should wait until after lunch time.

Already had three folks contact me with questions about the desk, so there's that.

I have SO much de-cluttering to do. I think I'm going to pretend we're moving and throw or give away anything I don't want to have to PAY someone to move for me. That will be a challenge, I can tell you!

I still have too much stuff, even after moving halfway across country. There are so many little things I've kept just for sentimental reasons...silly little things like concert programs. At least they don't take up a whole lot of space. Also have tons of old journals. I haven't been completely faithful to those or I'd need a truck to move...but there are still quite a few. I've kept one off and on since before I could write. Honestly.

Books are still the bulk of things, though. I know I can always replace stuff like Agatha Christie, but it's taken me *years* to build up my collection o' books, so I have trouble letting any go.

I have trouble going without email in the time I spend in class! Two days, ridiculous!

However I try at least a couple times a year to ignore all email and such for a weekend - usually when I go visit someone! It's like a retreat, or something.
