Hey, at least she'll get an idea of what the area's like... when it's underwater. A valuable thing to know.
Still sounds like good watching TV weather to me. :-D
I feel bad that Ramius will be driving in it to come pick me up though. :-/
I suppose ;~\
She had such nice weather when she was here before, so I guess this time she'll get the truth :~D
What time does your flight come in and what are your immediate plans after that? I'm remarkably ignorant of the details :~D
Well, crap. Turns out the van did need a lot of repairs. Judging from noises and wobbles and shakes and things, I'm not really surprised, but I was hoping it was all in my head.
Crap, crap, crap.
Guess I gotta just keep telling myself it's still a heck of a lot cheaper than car payments.
Crud... but... at least it'll be reliable for you on the drive out. Think how bad it would have been to drive it in the condition it was in.
If you want, I'll trade you my car payment for your repairs...
Wait until you hear the total. Like I said, I'm not reallly surprised, but it's painful.
It does have well over 100k on it at this point, and I've not exactly done a lot of maintenance. Probably should have had it checked out as soon as we got out here. It's done some odd things even since then - like you may have noticed how it would bounce on turns.
Well, how bad was it, and what kind of things?
The plane lands at 11:30am Thursday morning.
My immediate plan was to head straight for your house and claim a spot on the couch / chair / floor for the weekend. *grin*
* From This Evening Through Wednesday Afternoon.
The Next Pacific Frontal System Will Produce Another Round Of Significant Rainfall Over The Olympic Peninsula And Southwest Washington This Afternoon Through Tonight. This Could Result In Additional River Flooding In The Watch Area.
The Rivers That Flooded On Monday Face The Greatest Threat Of Renewed Or Prolonged Flooding. This Includes The Chehalis... Skookumchuck... Satsop... Skokomish... And Deschutes Rivers... And The Reach Of The Puyallup River Near Orting. However... Other Rivers Of The Olympic Peninsula And Southwest Washington Could Also Flood.
The Incoming Front Will Bring Up To Two To Four Inches Of Rain Over The Higher Terrain... With The Highest Amounts Over The South Facing Slopes Of The Olympic Mountains.
A Flood Watch Means Conditions Are Favorable For Flooding But Flooding Is Not Imminent Or Occurring. Monitor The Weather And Be Ready To Act Quickly If Flooding Is Observed Or A Warning Is Issued.
_________________________
The Chehalis is the River south of here that flooded a couple weeks ago... The Deschutes is the one that runs right through Tumwater and has the falls we went to see.
The Deschutes is in a deep gully through town, it never floods dangerously, except some flooding of a golf course upriver from the falls. It will make the falls loud and fast to go see this weekend.
Rosie, I thought you'd appreciate the names of the other rivers ;~D
Sounds like you need shocks, along with that alignment. :-/
OK - that will put you here for our lunch and nearing your dinner... should we plan some red meat on the grill, or should we order pizza, or should we go out to a pub for their fare?
How much skook could a skookum chuck
if a skookum could chuck skook?
Well...first of all the front end alignment needed to be done, plus an oil change, and rotating and balancing the tires, and they're also doing a tune-up because some of those parts were corroded...plugs and stuff. And since I've really not done anything with it since I've had it other than an oil change and a fixing a problem with the rear suspension, I can accept that.
I can't remember the name of the other two parts that needed work, but I guess they're the boots that go around the front-wheel drive thingie. Man, I hate being an idiot about such things. They said they're the parts that keep lubricant around the whole mechanism, and one is split and the other is starting to crack - just age and weather, I guess. And I'm guessing that's not something you want to go far without. He said I COULD replace just the split one, but the other would need to be done within a month or so anyway, sooner if I'm going a long distance.
Also they said the power steering fluid needs to be flushed. Again, I've never had that done, and I've put 30k on the car since I've had it, and who knows when it was done before that. They did have a special on that service, so there's that. But...it adds up to a LOT.
Completely up to you. We should prolly wait to see just how ~bad~ the weather is.
Really bad = pizza
Sorta drizzly = grill
Is that the sun!? = pub
I have to work on Thursday, so I won't be able to join the partay until about 5-ish. :-/
But if y'all are going to the pub, I could meet you there when I get off work.
Skookumchuck...that's just beautiful. ;-)
Bounce on turns?? eek.
CV boots, maybe? I'm looking at pictures and trying to remember what was said.
I've been ignoring it...sometimes it's less painful not to know.
