The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They look like they're loving it!

Well, except for Bay. ;-)

It's their very own watering hole.

SirKit cringed at some of the negativity of it at first, but we all howled at most of it. The two Bobs were hilarious, as was mumbling Mel.

We had forgotten that it had so much foul language in it the first time we tried to have Dona watch it, so it was a little much for her, but there's some really good characters in it.

I love the consultants, and I love the Jennifer Aniston character and her boss too...

"You do want to express yourself, don't you?"

"I don't really like talkin' about my flair"

RE #2308

I bet Steve McQueen would like to forget he ever was in a movie like that.

LOL! I love it when she finally DID 'express herself'! I also loved the long haired neighbor who always yelled through the walls. What a hoot!

Glad to hear there's some progress. Any day that is good or at least better than average for Corin probably is welcome!

In other news...

I want a bread knife. I think I've mentioned that. We do *not* have a single knife capable of cutting bread without wrecking it.

Close as I am to leaving, I'm tempted to find one. Not as if it wouldn't fit in the box with the rest of the silverware.

BTW, I'll probably go to the bookstore for a bit after I drop off the van, but if they say it's gonna be a really long time, I'll walk home. Would you be able to drive me back over later, or do you have plans this afternoon?

HUGH mud puddle - eek!

Glad all the rain is at least a source of amusement to some. ;-)

I'd like to see some of the streams and rivers in the area - they've gotta be going great guns!

I can come get you, no problem. What time is the car appointment? I might not be home quite when you leave...

I'm sure they are. Couple flood warnings issued and the falls I took you to ought to be loud this weekend if we take Ruthy down there.

and her boss too...

According to the featurettes, the man who played her boss is none other than Mike Judge - the guy who wrote and direct the story! (along with King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead...)

No, what I'm sayin' is that I may need a ride *back* to the repair place. If it's going to take awhile, I'll walk home from the place, but I'd rather not have to walk back again later.

Oh, yeah, no problem. If I'm there (which I should be) that's no big deal.

I suppose it's selfish, but I rather hope the falls will still be flooded a bit when I get there...

There were more trails around there than the ones we walked, weren't there? Couldn't remember how extensive they were.
