The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I gather Jack is one tough cookie, to say the least!

He's the man that would risk his neck for his brother man. Oh wait, that was Shaft. ;~D

Jack Bauer makes James Bond look like a pansy.

More wisdom from the world of comic strips:

I'm waiting with great interest the coming demise of the Crackberry, and all that means to our organization.

You mean that 24 doesn't jump the shark, Jack Bauer kills it instead.

Jack Bauer hates sharks. :-D

I'm off to the mines. It's meeting day today. :(

I bet Jack Bauer doesn't have to go to ~meetings~.

From what little I know, I'm guessing he has other means of negotiation and "training".

Jack Bauer doesn't go to meetings, unless it's with a terrorist he needs to kill.

I'm getting the impression that this Jack Bauer guy is not the world's greatest employee. I bet his yearly evaluations are full of comments about 'not torturing people any more".

Our blackberry server crashed over the weekend. A couple of the guys were in there all night saturday to fix it. It has not been one of the systems for which we have a warm failover or other redundant box.

It will now. I've been told to move it into the mission-critical category.

I think Jack would interrogate the shark, and start pulling teeth until the shark broke down and told him which writer had written the jumping episode.

Jack would then turn the shark and get him to go undercover to get close to the writer. Jack would kill the writer, and the shark would end up working for CTU as a systems analyst.

It's easy to torture a shark. Just make it watch Jaws III on an endless loop. :-)

Mornin'!

Pippin just fell in the bathtub with me. Came running in fast and went to jump up on the edge and slipped and went all the way in the water head first.

I don't think he's sure what happened next, but he's under the bed trying to figure it out.

The boogie man was my favorite, too! Y'all can get "24" on Netflix. You could start with Season 1. The best thing about the DVDs is NO commercials!

ROTFL!! Poor little guy. I bet he'll think twice before running into the bathroom again. Hope you weren't planning on 'potty training' them. ;o) He's gonna think there's a big wet monster in there who's waiting to get him!

Heh... They've been playing in the tub [empty] a lot, so it was quite a surprise :~D

One of my cats did that one time. Their expression when they've done something particularly embarrassing is so funny.

Mine used to like to play in the (empty) tub with a whiffle golf ball. The tub was in an alcove so it would get to be like kitty racquetball with that little ball bouncing off the sides of the tub and off the walls. When he got done he'd go hide the ball in my husband's boot.
