for Tammy
Jonny, that's a lovely tribute to Tammy, and a lovely portrait of her. I was always so impressed with how kind she was in her assessment of the AI contestants. She really saw the good in everybody, and I'm sure that was true in her "real" life as well. Knowing that Texasflower would be reading my comments on the contestants always made me be nicer, too! (Instead of my usual cranky, ascerbic self.)
Thanks for the reminder that somewhere, Texasflower is still watching us.
Thank you, jonny, for a great start to the new season with this thread. You've done a wonerful job, from the beautiful tribute to TexasFlower, to the bios of the past winners, and the articles on where they are now. Excellent coverage.
I hope all our regular posters come back again this year to enjoy what is always a fun and interesting time.
From what they're saying in some of the articles, there's going to be more cutthroat competition and less political correctness this year. Fasten your seatbelts!
'Course, I make no promises as to being timely with the wrtie-ups. I'll try to have them by the morning after, and for the voting round, at least prior to the results show. TiVo is both a blessing and a curse...
Oh, I still don't know him. I didn't watch the first season of AI .....poor guy.:)
So do I. Sometimes I'll drive by a dog that's walking near the road and I just can't look at him, thinking something will happen to him.
If people cared for their animals they wouldn't let them roam free.
What's a pomapoo? (lol)
I'll meet you at the party afterwards...
See you then :)
Take care.
:)
When I was working on her tribute, I searched through the old Idol thread, looking for quotes I could use ... and it just reminded me how decent Tammy was. While the rest of us (myself included) were calling Scott Savol "Slingblade", she always called him Scott. She defended him from every attack.
Like you said, it's things like that show what a kindhearted woman she really was.
Thank you, I appreciate that very much.
"Fasten your seat belts" is right! Can't wait.
That's when I like to read 'em :)
Oh brother :)
I know and am touched.
Ugh! I wanted to join the 24 thread tonight, but about 5:30pm I took my dogs for a walk in the park. What should I come across but two loose dogs. They had collars with tags, plus harnesses. The tags had only the names of the dogs, the owner's last name and a phone number.
I asked a couple of people who lived nearby to call the phone number, but no one answered. I hung around until 7:00pm hoping the owner would call one of the people who called for me. No luck. Finally, I bundled them in my car with my own dogs, brought my dogs home, then went over to the local police HQ. I thought it was odd that two dogs belonging to the same owner were running around in the park with harnesses on, so I just wanted to check in case someone had been sick or injured and the dogs got away. Nope.
I brought them back to my place. Called and called and called the number. No answer. Finally I had no choice but to bring them to the local pound before the placed closed for the night. Turns out the pound did have a record of the dogs, and an address. They called and left a message for the owners. I drove to the address and told the next door neighbors where the dogs were. (The owners were still not home.) The address was about three blocks from the park where I found them three hours earlier.
Hank, a German shephard, and Lucky, a Basset hound mix. Say a prayer that those idiot owners get their act in gear and protect those to sweet dogs better.
Lucky is a good name :) They were both lucky to find you. Anyone else would have kept walking and ignored them, and there's no telling what would have happened to them then.
You did all you could and at least they're safe now.
Hopefully their owners just made a mistake and aren't as careless and stupid as they seem.
Fantasia who?????
11 and a-half hours to go :)
Holy cow! You have been busy! I wasn't online yesterday at all. Beautiful tribute to our Texasflower. She is definitely missed. :-(
My husbands car that has been limping around may have finally gone to car heaven, so we may have to go get a new car tonight! Of all nights...
He's under strict orders to call me as soon as he knows what's going on. Hopefully, things are settled asap!
Unfortunately I have a dinner tonight so I won't be able to join in the live thread, then Wednesday night I have a meeting at church. I should be onboard for next week's live meetin'.
A local radio show was recently talking about labradoodle's. I had never heard of them until then, but it is a labrador/poodle mix. The dj's asked if they could mix a cocker, poodle and lab and call it a cock a doodle poo? The trainer said there already is one. :) Evidently because poodles don't shed the breeders are trying to mix that with other breeds. Better for allergies/ :)
Finding a seat in the front BUMP!
