And thank you (I meant that).

I know and am touched.

Ugh! I wanted to join the 24 thread tonight, but about 5:30pm I took my dogs for a walk in the park. What should I come across but two loose dogs. They had collars with tags, plus harnesses. The tags had only the names of the dogs, the owner's last name and a phone number.

I asked a couple of people who lived nearby to call the phone number, but no one answered. I hung around until 7:00pm hoping the owner would call one of the people who called for me. No luck. Finally, I bundled them in my car with my own dogs, brought my dogs home, then went over to the local police HQ. I thought it was odd that two dogs belonging to the same owner were running around in the park with harnesses on, so I just wanted to check in case someone had been sick or injured and the dogs got away. Nope.

I brought them back to my place. Called and called and called the number. No answer. Finally I had no choice but to bring them to the local pound before the placed closed for the night. Turns out the pound did have a record of the dogs, and an address. They called and left a message for the owners. I drove to the address and told the next door neighbors where the dogs were. (The owners were still not home.) The address was about three blocks from the park where I found them three hours earlier.

Hank, a German shephard, and Lucky, a Basset hound mix. Say a prayer that those idiot owners get their act in gear and protect those to sweet dogs better.

Lucky is a good name :) They were both lucky to find you. Anyone else would have kept walking and ignored them, and there's no telling what would have happened to them then.

You did all you could and at least they're safe now.

Hopefully their owners just made a mistake and aren't as careless and stupid as they seem.
