G'day Emily. I just don't get why Simon is pushing so hard for Pickler.

I hope you are correct. I did not hear him say that. I hope I would have remembered it because I am a Live fan. I just had not gotten to that record yet.

It seems Simon really likes the down home country gal aspect, after all he really pushed Carrie last season too.

I'm thinking, the country folk should go on the OTHER reality show for country singers and leave American Idol for those who do other genres (pop, rock, etc).

Also, I agree with some here that if a contestant has an "in" already in this business, that should keep them from being able to get this far and allow for others not so fortunate to compete instead. It would make the competition more challenging, I think.

I am listening right now & it sounds great.
This should already be a hit.

I thought it was just me. Yes Chris stays true to his "style" but that only works if you like his sound. Even the song tonight started out with an actual tune, but eventually went to a screaming rock-n-roll song that sounds the same every week.

If Paula thinks he should already be touring and selling tickets, let's let him go! I think he's ready too for the audience that likes his "type" of music.

If Simon likes down home country, his definition of that must be pretty strange.

I know I know...
It would be in the top 100, right now if it was gettig airplay.

He sings sooo much better on his CD than he does on AI.

The kid can sing! (no matter if he wins or not he will be selling top 100 hits soon after AI is over)

What's wrong with letting the best person win? Winning can do a lot more for a career than having an 'in' in the music industry. Of course as Fantasia and Rubin showed, winning doesn't necessarily guarantee success.

But then Simon's company wouldn't own as many talented people. Keep in mind this about how much money Simon can make off of these people. Simon may be "into" country now after seeing how well Carrie is doing. The indie angle is new & can bring in a whole new batch of cash.

I guess I thought he did better than Chris is because i am getting tired of the alternative stuff and I LOVE alternative. I would just like to see him just once try something different.

I know, that's crazy. :)

Me either. She's annoying. :)

And I don't think she's fake anymore, just dumb.

OK Folks,

Let me ask your opinion about Chris Daughtry because this is starting to grate on me ( nothing against him personally because he is a good man, good American and a good husband/father). I'm talking about his performance every week for the past 5 we've seen now. This includes doing Stevie Wonder and Johnny Cash.

What is the point of having a theme night if Chris gets to make every song an ALT-Rock piece of work ?

Look what he's doing every week ! All he does is use the same lyrics as the original artist and puts them to the same Creed sounding alt/rock music. Add a light and smoke show and VOILA, he’s got the judges fawning all over him. Every performance is exactly the same.

Are we going to be getting this every night until the finals ? Is this the whole point of the show now ?

I said pretty much the same a couple of weeks ago, and was told that I apparently just don't "get" alt-rock.

How many artists are there that prove their worth by singing in multiple genre's and in multiple styles? Not many. Chris is very good at alternative rock. Carrie was very good at pop-country. Kelly is good at pop. Ruben was good at soul/R&B. Clay with ballads. Why is there this requirement to "branch out" and get "out of your comfort zone" when you are damn good at what you do? Chris is an alternative rock singer. What purpose would it serve to have him sing just like Cash? Or Stevie Wonder? There are plenty of people who already do that poorly. JMHO of course.

Same here :) He might squeak through another week--I think Lisa will go. Or Bucky.

We did out part in our house, we had chicken for dinner last night. We are hoping that has some sort of voodoo effect. Heh heh.

I will just be sooo disappointed if that little guy goes on the TOP TEN tour. And WHY oh WHY do they constantly humor him every week with telling him how he "Did his thing".

What "thing" would that be--make everybody press MUTE on their remotes?

Sometimes I just have to walk away. Just walk away, Shel. Say nothing. When Barry Manilow said, "Sing it so low that people almost can't hear you" My hubby and I snickered like school children. Our children had to remind us that we weren't being very nice. OOPS.
