for Tammy
I don't recall Simon slamming fantasia that way, but maybe I missed it. I care so little about her. He just didn't need to say that about Carrie.
Bad choice of words! (cough, cough)
I wish they would too. Hicks and Elliot would probably excel with those type of songs. Chris might be surprisingly good as well. And McPhee and Mandisa could turn loose their inner divas :)
Everytime I see a pic of Kelly she looks different than the last time I saw a pic!
I don't know, but I'd put Mandisa as third. I haven't voted for Kellie and I won't. I have voted for Mandisa though, and Melissa, and Gedeon.
Very true.
Carrie is also a fine representative for this show--she always presents herself as a quiet professional, shows graciousness to her hosts and is respectful of her audiences. Not to mention that she's generating unknown millions of dollars for Idol and winning new viewers wherever she goes.
Simon was way out of line when he callously dismissed her a couple weeks ago. He should apologize to her and thank God that someone of Carrie's caliber is wearing the Idol crown.
LOL!
'Used to try that in the car on long drives, but Daddy just turned the radio up... REAL LOUD.
I got the hint. ":^(
LOL--you've been busy today!
I have "Breakaway" and Carrie's "Some Hearts" and--yes--Cash's San Quentin album :) And not to brag or anything, I also have his Folsom Prison CD ;)
A lot of people who have bought Bo's CD had the same reaction as you. From what I've read it was a case of having too many cooks in the kitchen--plus Bo's ongoing illness didn't help :-/
I totally agree. I think this story is a reprint from earlier in the week (even though it has today's date). I can't imagine Simon making this prediction after sitting through the Gherkin's horrible performance Tuesday night.
Ooo I'm jealous. You have the Folsom Prison album.
'Didn't realize til I got home that this isn't the one from the movie! But it's still good.
Yes, she definitely is.
Simon was way out of line when he callously dismissed her a couple weeks ago.
Simon doesn't know the meaning of the word apologize. He was definitely out of line. I don't get why he feels he has to dis previous winners to pimp the current year's crop. Makes no sense to me. The contestants ARE the show, and winners like Carrie and Kelly give it credibility.
Nashville Star is struggling because none of its winners have gone on to successful careers. In fact, all but the first NS winner flopped with their first CD's. But Carrie and Josh Gracin come along from AI and are carving very nice careers for themselves. Why have they been accepted in the country genre (and on country radio) when Nashville Star winners have not? Because AI has achieved a measure of credibility thanks to the success of Kelly, Clay, and Fantasia (ugh).
As far as I'm concerned, for Simon to dis Carrie or any of the former winners and runners up shows not only a lack of class on his part, but a lack of appreciation for the key ingredient in the show's success.
Oh my :-P
it's a flat out copy of a pose Kelly did for a photo shoot a year or two ago.
It really is--their legs are even crossed in almost the exact same way.
But, no disrespect to Kelly, I like McPhee's better :-D
BTW, I was watching a news report on the Top 12 and it showed them taking glamour shots like this and the Gherkin was sitting on a couch--probably the same couch in McPhee's pic--and the Gherkin was saying to the photographer (in a playful way), "This is my couch--you wish this was your couch."
Gag me!
I'll pull for him to win.......YEAH! I knew he would grow on you little by little. :) He is my favorite and no not because he is from Alabama, although I have to admit I have pulled for each one that has come from Alabama, but he just has a way of pulling at your heart strings. You know he loves the music, more so than the others I think.
Exactly. We are in agreement. Mandisa is 3rd.
Me too. She has a solid singing voice and a great personality--that's where McPhee loses points.
Oh, I don't know ... maybe he figures that if people will vote for li'l Gherkin after THAT debacle, they'll stick with her through anything! LOL!
Seriously, I wish Simon would just shut his yap about who he thinks will win. I think it's incredibly rude to the other contestants.
And further, while I'm on the subject of Simon, I do wish he would give them some constructive criticism sometimes (as Ryan so earnestly entreats him). Most of them would really take it to heart, and they might learn something (and all the millions of wanna-be's eagerly watching the show might learn something, too).
That said, I almost always agree with his critiques. My DH has a a new nickname for Simon -- he calls him "The Truth"! LOL!
When Bo got sick while they were still picking songs for the album, I suspect the sharks kind of rolled over him and he lacked the strength to push back. But oddly, with almost everything going against that album, it has not done all that badly. Bigger name artists than him put out serious flops last year (Jennifer Lopez for one).
Like Clay, Bo does have an audience receptive to his music. If he can get this album behind him quickly and put out a 2nd CD that's much stronger, he might do fine in the long run.
And while I'm sitting here wasting time instead of cooking dinner ... let me just say that you know what I find kinda scary? The last AI show was on Wednesday, the next one isn't until next Tuesday ... but here we sit on Friday, still yapping up a storm about it! LOL! Surely I have better things to do with my time ... don't I? :)
