Well, AI is in and of itself, quite entertaining and fun to make fun of...
AI usually has the following theme nights, so we can always have some fun speculating on them:
Big Band Night
Rock Night
60's Night
Pop Night
(Insert Artist) Night*
Movie Night
Disco Night
Motown Night
The question is, what goes into determining the best? Do you think that Paul McCartney could ever actually sing? He has a "sound," but not much of a voice.
Idol is certainly a wonderful market research tool for those in the music biz. Imagine, 33 million votes...each and every one of which tells marketers something. For instance, is Country more popular than Rock?
Cowell is a genius, no doubt about it. Raking in mega-bucks, paying out very little for talent. And the public loves it. What an incredible formula for success.
Just between you and me, I think Cowell and Seacrest are VERY good friends. Anyone else's gaydar going off?
Yes, Cowell and Seacrests' banter does seem a bit "friendly" (wink wink, nudge nudge).
And you're right...what a great way to make money. I'm sure Simons new show "American Inventor" will make just as much...I'm gonna watch it just to see what lame a$$ inventions people come up with.

My gaydar definitely does NOT go off at Ace, however, my Liberal Education buzzer goes crazy. This big good-looking guy obviously learned from the get-go that testosterone is bad, that men should not be competitive but should be Milquetoastie nice and harmless instead. What a shame. Someone needs to take him to boot camp to rev him up him to be more manly. Not soldierly, just manly.
What would be funny, is if they had a "Rick James" night.

He may very well might. Simon has A LOT more control over who wins this thing than we know.
He was not happy about Ayla getting the boot over Melissa (well...Ayla was better) and he KNOWS his "that last note just got you a ticket home" comment brought a huge sympathy vote for her.
His comment "I thought it was one of your best..." from Tuesday night was "nice" but meant nothing.
Bottom line: She seemed like a nice girl. She was "easy on the eye," but she has sang a lot of flat notes over the past few weeks so it's not a huge loss to see her go.
Now....I think our freind Chicken Little will probably bid us fairwell unless he has a great song this week OR someone else really bombs.
The guys were sad to see Melissa go.....

Ace is a really goodlooking guy in a wholesome outdoorsy way. He reminds me of my grandson who is in submarine school in Groton. Definitely hetero.

I was telling Jonny I'd love to see Taylor do a performance that included use of his harmonica. I'd love to see him do a real blues song and use his harmonica during the performance. Actually, Crazy was written by Willie Nelson early in 1961 for Patsy Cline, so it doesn't qualify for a 1950's theme night. Gotta think of another one for Taylor.
It's not a blues song, but I'll bet Taylor would bring down the house with a rendition of 'Mack the Knife.' The Bobby Darin version, released in 1959, is still one of the most requested oldies songs ever on radio.

They are going to Vegas this weekend to work with him is what I am now told. Since he has a cover album of 50's songs that's probably the angle.
It appears that the show will have artists involved with different episodes.
