She sure had 'feeling' in her audition, remember?
They were awestruck, said she was a blessing.

It's like an artist who creates a beautiful picture.
But that doesn't mean they have the staying power to illustrate a whole book.

In their attempt to show off Paris' versatility, it seems they've smothered that pure quality which got her there in the first place.

My review of last nights show (on 4 hours sleep mind you)

G'Ace - G'Awful. He's just not that good. He's better than me but...But again, the teenie bopper girls love the beenie and he'll sail through...sad IYAM.

Kellie - I'm so tire of her schtick I can't stand it. She was completely dreadful vocally. Truly awful. I wouldn't listed to that song if you paid me. I am also more convinced than ever that the whole thing is an act when she (at least partially) defined the word "DHL Solutions" and then made the insipid "they're not real tarantula's" comment. Couple tat with the "calamari" and "saLmon" comment and you have a great actress who is playing people to the hilt. She can't leave soon enough for me. That being said, Simon ripped her knowing full well that she'll sail through to the next round. Now he has plausible deniability when he pimps for her later in the year.

Elliot - I've said it every week but I'm jhust not hearing what others are with him. I closed my eyes and listen to his singing (Dolby Digital 5.1 through awesome speakers) and I just must be missing it. Again, he was better then most but not great...

Mandisa - the whole Ryan/shoe thing sort of creeped me out but she nailed her song again. It was not her best nor was it the best of the night but she was way above average.

Bucky - what was with the chick hair? Awful. If he were to wear his hair like that to the next NASCAR race in Rockingham he be beaten up...and deservedly so. About his song, it was his best performance but that's not saying much. Glad he followed the Stevie Ray Vaughn version as it is more rockin. Solid middle-of-the-pack.

Melissa - I like her smokey, sultry voice but she will likely go out early. She's just not as good as many of the others. Highly forgettable.

Lisa - nice to see her do an upbeat song. She has a very good voice but her stage presence seems very manufactured. Better than most however. I'm just not sure if she connects with anyone.

Chicken Little - this guy is a joke. Not a good voice, awful song, and dorky moves. He's like watching a Saturday night Live skit. However, his shot back to Simon might be enough to save him. He's good for comic relief and nothing more.

Katherine - she can really, really sing. I'm not sure she has missed a note this year. That neing said, she's also very mechanical and robotic on stage. She has a great voice though. Awful taste is clothes however. Why was she wearing a tent?

Taylor - just blew it out. The dude has soul and passion and it shows every time he takes the stage. He is at home there and it showed. The crowd loved it as well. Second week in a row the crowd would not stop after his performance. He's getting more and more comfortable and will get better every week. Awesome.

Paris - she bores me. Great voice but annoying little personality. I'm not sure she's connecting either and is likely to go in the middle rounds.

Chris - While I do not like that song (either version) I thought he put on a fantastic performance and he remains my co-favorite artist. One thing of note, I have discussed the "conspricacy theory" of the show that voting is not the be all, end all of the show and that the producers/judges essentially "choose" the winner. The moment Simon made the comment about Chris's performance being "the best by a mile" I concluded that Chris will likely win this. Alternative Rock is a space where AI has zero presence and with alt.rock hitting more and more mainstream radio stations, it only makes sense. I believe Chris is clearly the one to beat.

Top tier: Chris, Taylor, Katherine

Middle of the Road: Mandisa, Bucky, Elliot, Lisa, Paris

Get through on looks alone: G'Ace and Kellie

Just not good enough: Chicken Little and Melissa

Who should go home: Chicken Little, Kellie, or Melissa

Who will go home: Melissa

Prediction for Final 3: Chris, Taylor and Kellie

She's not an alto. One thing I did notice last night was that some of the singers had trouble with the low notes, and some of the songs started out low. Lisa doesn't have the sultry voice needed for Lena Horne, Katharine maybe.

Paris was technically good, but didn't bring that same energy or light to the stage. She lacks passion. I think that's what Simon meant by the wind-up doll comment. She's doing what she is programmed to do with absolutely no feeling behind it.

Exactly. Contrast that to Taylor who does not have the best voice but connects with people precisely because of his passion. For me, he is a true joy to watch perform. I lover watching people perform who are passionate about what they do.

What does it say about Kevin's chances of surviving tonight? Can't wait 'til he's gone and we can get down to business.

Don't like Parris or Kellie, sadly I think both Melissa & Bucky will be gone before them though.

You're absolutely right.
My favorite voice has been Elliot's, but Taylor's got that contagious JOY factor that bubbles up from the depths and makes you want MORE!

Trade Sports has Chris on top to win, with Katherine 2nd and Taylor 3rd. I pretty much agree with that so far.

AOL poll has them in this order (from best to worst):

Katherine
Kellie
Chris
Taylor
Mandisa
Elliott
Buckey
Ace
Lisa
Kevin
Melissa
Paris

That all said...I'm pretty sure Melissa gotes this week. (one week late)

Unless there's a train wreck for one of the others, Kevin will be gone after next week even though Vote for the Worst is trying to make him this years Scott Savol.

Did you also notice that all the singers, EXCEPT Ace, were critiqued by Stevie Wonder.

How come? That really annoyed me, especially since I hated his performance.

Maybe they edited out the part where Stevie told him to give it up.

Didn't you see the cough drop on her tongue when she was talking about meeting Stevie Wonder? She's been doing a lot of singing...yes, she's hoarse!

I've never liked her that much. Of the "young ones" Lisa has much more style & class!

Simon has said before that he wants a song to be "original". All Chris did was to look for a Stevie Wonder song that someone else has "rocked out" and sing that version (Chili Peppers'). That doesn't show any originality at all! It's glorified karaoke as Simon would put it.

Yes I think Chris is talented. He sounds like people who are already on the radio, yes I think Mandisa's 'phone will ring after this competition is over because she can sing anything, even Taylor will get a record deal on charisma alone. I would like to see someone win this who actually needs the show to get the recording contract & be heard by millions... like Katharine McPhee or Ace Young.

He is way better than he lets on. If Stevie Wonder says he should be a singer, there must be something there. He just need to find that song that shows ALL of his talents!

Pllllueeeeez! Don't give this kid the idea that he even belongs in this group of talented people. What he does is karaoke on TV! Do you see his face on a CD? See him in concert? Maybe in 10-15 years after he's finished puberty!

There's something very conniving about Little Miss Pickler.

Good morning, Jonny, CB and retrokitten. It's so frustrating not having my PC at home. Never, ever buy anything major from CompUSA.

Anyway, Little Miss Dogpatch is wearing false eyelashes in this photo:

So yes, she absolutely is a conniving little ho -- to use the term made popular in rap and hip-hop "music." She should go home tonight, but won't unfortunately. Heck, the person most likely to go home is Pee Wee, and I'd much rather he stay around another week if we could dump Dogpatch.

Pee Wee can't sing, but at least he pokes fun at himself. "This year's sex symbol," LOL! He knows he's not going all the way, but he goes out there, does the best he can, and has fun doing it. He's "takin' it to the Man" for all the geeks out there.

His dancing was actually more horrifying then his singing.

And that's really saying something.

Chris is my favorite, so far, and I liked his performance. However, I think the song was overproduced.

I enjoyed his performance but *totally* agree that his song was waaaaaaay overproduced. My DH and I watched the show together last night and we both agreed there was just too much going on on that stage during his song. Made it a little bit like playing "Where's Waldo" just to find him in all that! LOL!

(BTW, I like your handle! We used to have a terrific Manx cat named Samwise. :)

Don't you mean "Chris, Taylor, and Katherine" for the final three. Please don't let it be Kellie!

Ah, yes, the classic Three Reasons to Like Katherine McPhee .... :)

It's obvious that people who didn't like her tent-like dress are not the same people who appreciate two of the three reasons!

(Just to clarify: *I* am not an appreciator myself of two of the three! But I have seen enough in life now to know what will play well to others.)
