Maybe for the men, but Mandisa and Katherine McPhee will be the last two women. They are incredible!
I think its worse than Roseanne.
It makes me sad that the judges like to see Kevin Covais make a fool of himself.
Some of us actually like him. He wasn't the worst of the night. He didn't make a fool of himself tonight.
People that forget the lyrics, they make fools of themselves.
Melissa probably will go home. She had a bad night. She started weak, forgot the words, but finished better. But all in all, not a good night at all.
Well...that chicken walk dance, grabbing his crotch, and singing Part-time Lover seemed like foolish choices to me.
Why don't they have a John McCormack night? Then Kevin would excel. (John McCormack was a great Irish tenor of he 1920' and 30's). And all the rest of them would flunk the evening's contest. Heh...I'd love to hear how Chris would sing "My Wild Irish Rose".
Better yet, would be Ace singing Danny Boy in his falsetto.
Don't count Lisa out. She has a great voice, and a very high-class appearance. Wish she would do a Lena Horne, and sing "Stormy Weather."

I told wife to send a message out to him that he needs to knock off with the smooth R&B act and pick a song that shows some hard soul. He can cover any Stevie Wonder song out there just fine but he needs to branch out.
Not likely to happen given his personality but maybe if enough of the family gets on his case he will do something hot.
Yep, he needs to move into a different genre. He has a nice voice, but his song choices leave me uninterested. If it were on the radio, it wouldn't make me want to turn the volume up, it would make me want to hit the scan button.
It would melt the ear wax anyway. :)
Oh, and that John Lewis from the season before last was talking with either Caldwell or Tovares on the tv guide channel and they were talking about Ace's performances and John Lewis said that he is hetero but even he's attracted to Ace! LOL He then said there have been certain comments implying and he trailed off and they all just joked a bit.
Maybe Ace is just going for the gay vote, thinking its an untapped market? lol
Gherkin was sooooo bad tonight..I think she needs a new handle..how about "Vlasic?"

Difficult to rate tonight's performances.
Top group:
Taylor(always entertaining)
Chris(great performer whose billy-goat vibrato bothers me a little at times, but only a little)
Katharine(very nice voice and warming up a bit)
Lisa(lovely girl and her voice is pretty but small)
Mandisa(not her best night but even on an off night she's better than most)
Paris(good performer but I agree with those who think she's annoying)
So-so:
Elliot(still one of the best if not the best singer but has to do something to up the excitement factor)
Bucky(did better than I expected)
Bottom group:
Kellie(not a good night for her)
Melissa(really had trouble singing in tune tonight)
Ace(thought he would have been able to do better than that with Wonder)

Kevin(...yet I can't look away)

I cringed when I heard that this was Stevie Wonder week. He writes songs for *his* voice, not someone else's, and his voice is (or was, in his prime) very supple and flexible, able to hit rippling runs of notes and get the intonation spot-on with every note. Could our wee little neophytes do the same? Let's see:
Ace: Wow, dude. Two words: Train wreck. If there was a single note that was actually *on* the note, I missed it. You are just not pretty enough to make up for that performance.
Kellie: I don't much like the Gherkin, but I had to feel sorry for her. She looked miserable tonight. She did a crappy rendition of that song, and she knew it while she was doing it. No worse feeling in the world than to be bombing and know it while it's happening. She did, however, look smashing in her red f-me pumps ("On Sale! Yeehaw!"), no matter what Simon thought. We'll see if that's enough to save her.
Elliot: Dude, you have GOT to pick better songs! Your voice sounded great tonight, but what a nothingburger of a song. However, his stage presence is definitely improving, and the makeover crew worked its magic. Perhaps he'll stay.
Mandisa: Here's what my notes say: "And it's Mandisa to win by a nose!" I really, really enjoy this woman on so many levels. Barefoot. Barefoot! Good for you, woman! And she sounded Terr-rific! (Though the opening part of the song was a little under the weather -- too low for her.) I'd love to see her win this thing.
Bucky, aka "Fluffy": That was an ... interesting ... song choice. "Superstition" by Lynerd Skynerd. Whoduh thunkit? (Tip: Dude, get a haircut, and then they can't make you look like Marilyn Monroe!)
Melissa: Our little songbird may be heading home. In addition to fluffing her lyrics, her vocal cords were in obvious distress. Weeks ago, I thought that her "smoky" voice might not stay the course. Voices with that disposition are frequently more fragile than sharp, bright voices, since they get less head/nasal resonance and therefore have to work harder. I think the constant singing may be catching up with her. (I have to say she looked terrific, though! Prettiest of the girls tonight.)
Lisa: By golly, she knows how to work a stage, doesn't she? But I still find her voice incredibly generic. A year after this contest, people will be asking, "Lisa who?"
Kevin: Well, at least I got a good laugh out of it! Lots of laughs, actually, since I couldn't stop laughing during his whole performance. Dude, that was just ... wroooooongg!! LOL!
Katherine: Best performance I've seen her give, and her hooters were on full display. If she can't get votes with that combo, I don't know what could possibly do it.
Taylor: Wow, is he an audience pleaser or what? and he looked good out there tonight, not too over the top. Kudos to the Hicks from the sticks. :)
Paris: Um, is it wrong for me to say I just am not excited by her, even as I say that she gave an exceptionally good performance tonight? Just not my type of performer, and I'm not sure why. I think Simon may have hit upon it when he called her a "wind-up doll."
Chris: Chris rocks. He just does. I'm not at all sure he'll win but I am sure he will be right up there at the top.
I voted for:
Chris: Because he always gives a great performance.
Mandisa: Because ... ditto. And double-ditto!
Elliot: Because I think we have not seen his real potential emerge yet.
Whatever Pee Wee's doing, he's doing it all by himself. He's out of his league and it showed last night.
