Mandesa will win this competition. The woman is the best overall singer and performer out there. Until he shows otherwise, Chris is nothing but a rock singer, Kellie is the wannabe fraud and Taylor is limited in what he can do.

Some people will not vote for Mandesa because of her girth and some won't on the color of her skin. But, which of the other women can handle the range of songs that she can?

By the way, the word is that things are starting to get a little more competitive behind the scenese, more so with the women than men. However, my understanding is that some of the parents have been behaving badly thinking that since their kids have made the top 12 that they are something special.

Will post more when I have it.

some of the parents have been behaving badly thinking that since their kids have made the top 12 that they are something special.

This is getting to be as REAL as they come in this REALITY show.

I agree with misterrob when he says that Mandisa has the versatility to win this and the only thing stopping her winning his her "image" ( let's face it, she isn't the glamour girl the sultry, Katharine is, or even compared with the beauty contestant, Kellie or the Seventeen magazine cover girl, Lisa ). But if this is a POP singing competition as it should be, Mandisa should win.

Taylor is of course versatile in a limited sort of way ( Blues, southern country/rock, soul ). Let's put it this way -- Michael Macdonald or Joe Cocker CANNOT WIN American Idol if they were to compete ( therefore, Taylor won't win but he'll go deep, his fans ( me for instance) will see to that). But Taylor does not need to win and I don't think he wants to. He just wants his voice heard and in that, he's already accomplished what he set out to do. His self-produced CD is selling like hot cakes by word of mouth alone and is fetching ridiculous prices at e-BAY ( some people have no better thing to do with their money ).

Chris has not shown that he can get out of his comfort zone ( the theme nights will show this ), and Lisa has only shown propensity for doing ballads.

The only other one who has the chops and beauty to match the title "American Idol" is Katharine ( she's effortless and couldn't sing a bum note if she tried ). But she hasn't been as consistently good as Mandissa yet.

This contest is a marathon and not a sprint though. Unfortunately, all you need is one bad night to be eliminated.

My prediction is --- IT WILL BE A Mandissa vs Katharine showdown in the end, with Eliott Yamin as a darkhorse third.

I agree with all of your points. Katherine needs some personality infused into her performance. She looks too much like Mommy's Girl on stage which is too bad as she might be the best pure singer of all of them. However, I will find it hard to take her seriously doing something sexy.

Taylor is a fun kind of guy and this will certainly help him. Chris and Elliott will get themselves noticed as well and that will ensure that these three will have a job for a long, long time. Good for Chis in having taken on a family and good for Elliott in that this is his chance to step up in life.

Ace is going to model underwear and pitch himself to girls/young women and gay men. He is not marketable much beyond his image. He's "dead" by the time he is 30.

But, Mandisa really is in a class by herself as a singer and stage performer. She has also impressed me as a person who believes in herself, takes crap from no one but does so in a way full of grace.

Betcha she brings down the house in church on Sundays when she sings.

Here is a very interesting take on The History of Stevie Wonder songs on American Idol which some of you might want to read in preparation for Stevie Wonder theme night.

The article gives a history of Stevie Wonder song performances ( both good and bad ) and suggests song choices to contestants as well as predicts who can do well and who should worry.

Theme shows really start to weed people out. They can no longer rely on what got them there and instead they have to show their versatility. Stevie Wonder is not a favorite of many of the people on this thread but if you do the songs right with some stage presence you can really help yourself.

Elliot should do Stevie Wonder real proud.

He will likely acquit himself very well...

But wait until they have Rod Stewart night. Actually, that will likely screw up a lot of the contestants.

Wonder what female singers they will feature?

When Ace sang that falsetto last week, I literally shrieked and left the room!

I seriously cringed. A) I don't really care for that sound on a male vocalist and B) He just sounded awful doing it.

I hope Taylor does "Boogie On Reggae Woman". It will be interesting to see how Chris does. Stevie Wonder does'nt really seem to be his style.

Could be.

Have you heard any more on the riddle about what Taylor will sing?

Hey, that link was pretty cool. We lose 2 a week? When does that get reduced to 1?

Word has it that Stevie sat in on rehearsals today. Everyone had a great time with him.
