Beatles 'Pepper' best albums list
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ^ | January 8, 2006 | DAVE TIANEN

Perhaps the first thing that leaps out is that it's a very Beatle-centric list. "Sgt. Pepper" is No. 1 as it often is in such lists, but two of the top three albums are by the Beatles, three of the first five and four of the first 10.

The first 10 are:

1) "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by the Beatles 2) "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys 3) "Revolver" by the Beatles 4) "Highway 61 Revisited" by Bob Dylan 5) "Rubber Soul" by the Beatles 6) "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye 7) "Exile on Main Street" by the Rolling Stones 8) "London Calling" by the Clash 9) "Blonde on Blonde" by Bob Dylan 10) "The Beatles" (The White Album) by the Beatles

Dark Side of the Moon rules.

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

cippalina was one great guitarist.
very distinct sound with his constant use of vibroto.

terry and the pirates is very good collectable cippalina stuff.

Sgt Peppers isn't even the best Beatles album...

Maybe not, but for its time, it was certainly one of the most innovative and original.

I loved the first 3 albums, still do to this day. When you play the CLASH -Play it Loud!London Calling is a great 4 sides LP, no filler. On the original release, "Train In Vain" was added after the artwork went to print...On the actual vinyl...Tear Down The Walls was inscribed on each side of the vinyl, one word per side....

I've still got my albums, but I've got most of what I like on CD now and the record player hasn't spun in years. www.cduniverse.com and other places have most of what we want. Can't find "Buckingham Nicks" by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks on CD, never came out. A few others too.

Check out www.dinovalenti.com site, a tribute to the former Quicksilver singer done by his sister. I haven't seen a better web site. Sign the guestbook and read the comments. That guy was much beloved by lots of people. His voice still gives me goosebumps.

I agree with you. That album is so good that I just cued it up on the old Pioneer turntable.

I'm partial to the Beatles, though. I can still hear Dick Bionti on WLS introducing the Beatles from England and a song called "Please, Please, Please".

Have you heard "Blues for Greeny" by Gary Moore? It came out the same year "Rattlesnake Guitar" did. Moore owns Peter Greens 1959 Gibson Les Paul and uses it on the whole album. All Peter Green songs too. I think Gary got left off of the Rattlesnake album and decided to do his own tribute album.

Re: Dark Side of the Moon

I have that album on vinyl,

a couple versions on CD,

and, the absolute best,

a high resolution SACD 5 channel remix. Wowser!

I wish that I should have aged so well as that recording has.

Just saw Little Feat a few months ago. First I've seen them. They jammed for 2 solid hours non stop. Excellent live band. I like Widespread Panic also. Everyday is my fave so far.

Atomic Bombs (KIX)

My arms around you
Ya better keep your head low
All dressed up
No place to go
Make love to you all night long
Listen to atomic bombs

Hear the people scratch
On the shelter door
Leave us alone
Nobody lives here no more
Make love to you all night long
Listen to atomic bombs

Safe and sound you're next to me
Close the door on World War Three
Oh just kick your shoes off, sing a song
Listen to atomic bombs

I've been waiting here
Through all your fears
Close your eyes and look away
Hear the bombers blast
Your times come at last
So pray if you stay

Kick your shoes off sing a song
Listen to atomic bombs
Make love to you all night long
Listen to atomic bombs
