Oh, good. The real pro football starts later. I can enjoy the warm-up act first.

TD Carolina. Delhomme 22 yard TD pass to Smith.
7-0 Panthers.

Big back-to-back 3rd down conversions!

Coughlin blows it by not challenging spot on Carolina's second first down of this drive.

Weird camera angle -- or lens -- makes 31-yard field goal look a lot harder than it is. At the half, 10-0. Disappointing that the Panthers couldn't turn their good break into a TD.

Not to be greedy, but the zebra could have called pass interference there.
That camera angle they're using for FGs still amuses me. Kasay's 45 yarder looked like 75 on the screen.

OK, men, step on their throats and wrap this one up!

First shutout of a home team in the playoffs since 1980.

If I'm reading the "drive chart" on ESPN correctly, the Giants' deepest penetration into Carolina territory was the 39 yard line. That has to be some sort of playoff record. Not even a field goal attempt.

Is "chippy" the sportscasters' word of the season? I'd never heard it before this year, but now you can't go a game without hearing it.
