I don't judge it on one game. The two teams that played in the Rose Bowl won their regular season games by an average of 35 plus, that right there demonstrates the incredible lack of defense in college football. Sure there's generally 1 or 2 teams that actually know how to play defense, but they're the exception not the rule. On the rare occassions I suffer through a college football game (generally at a sports bar or someplace else where I don't control the remote) it's always the same thing, at least 1 and often times both teams scoring at will, a complete yawn fest.
Everybody likes the kind of football they like. I like strong defenses smashing offenses in the mouth. Best football game I've ever seen was Steel Curtain vs Purple People Eater for all the marbles, 0-2 at the end of the first half. THAT is football.
and THAT is boring.
I like good defense too, but I don't like having an offense so inept that it looks like a damned soccer match.
And if you didn't really notice, the Rose Bowl TURNED on defensive plays all night long.
I can appreciate your views, I love college football.
One of the best games I saw this year was
Alabama 6
Tenn 3
