Well with the ridiculous number of bowl games and 4 weeks between the end of regulation and the "championship" there's plenty of time and games to have 4 rounds of playoffs that means 16 teams, which makes it twice as many as the 7 big teams plus Notre Dame. And so what if it is just the 7 big time teams plus Notre Dame, at least it would be all the teams that would have a legitimate shot in the playoff instead of the 2 teams the computer likes. The amazing thing to me about the BCS is they actually managed to come up with a system that made the poll system (which was horid) look good. Every other division of NCAA football has a playoff, why shouldn't the top division?

I thought he had possession when his knee hit the ground and that he lost the ball after that.....but I can't swear to it
because I must admit I've been imbibing in fine spirits.

Does Notre Dame have to be in a Conference? How are tie breakers settled? What if, let's say Ohio State is #15 at 9-2 and Maryland is 9-2, who goes? How do you come up with an objective system of ranking 117 teams, with a 12 game scheduled?

You are going to have to start the week before Labor day, no breaks, have all conference title games by Thanksgiving.

Then you have to expect teams and fans to be willing to spend bigs bucks on a moments notice.

The operative term being "with possession" when receiving a catch and falling down a player is not "with possession" until they finish falling down and still holding onto the ball. If he had two steps and THEN started falling (like from getting hit) it would have been a completion, but he was falling before the ball touched him that meant the fall rule applied, and the fall rule says you have to keep holding onto the ball until you fall.

Well, bless your heart. You must be miserable during the bowl games. But it's all over now til next year.

Who do you like in this next game? Jags or Pats?

You DO watch pro football, right?

They do and some coaches don't like it. Also, these are small schools, with little expections of revenue generation.

Is Michigan going to be a #16 seed over let's say Delaware, because Michigan can generate more revenue?

Is the #15 in the BCS?

What is Maryland ranked?

You take the higher rank.

The system for ranking all 119 teams is already in place, but it needs to be refined and hammered out so that there are no polls before week 5. By then, most teams have placed at least 3 games.

Tie breakers?

Notre Dame must have at least a .750 winning pct (or 9 wins, whichever comes first) and must be within the top 10 of the BCS to be considered.

Actually, the scheduling could stay the same.

Keep the conference title games on the first weekend of December and start the first round the next week. It eliminates the stupid break most teams get after their final game.

All depends on what you like. To me that was real football. Those weren't inept offenses, they were just up against the best two defenses in the league. Against other defenses both those offenses had done well.

No 79 point combined score game turns on defensive plays. The occassional rare stop might have seemed important, but that was only because there were so few they ones that did happened seemed important. But they weren't, there were too many offensive points on the board for defense to have ever actually been important.

The Steelers were my 2nd favorite team growing up.
#rd & 4th were the Oilers & the Dolphins (mainly because of the cute mascot....a dolphin wearing a helmet...I am a girl & that was irresistible). The Steel Curtain was awesome.

That means a running back who crosses the goal line can theorically fumble after scoring. I saw two steps then the knee hit then the ball came out.

Want to bet? Key interceptions? Fumbles? Stops on 4th down?

Why would I be miserable about games I don't watch? There's plenty of other interesting sports going on during bowl season.

Pats should win this, Jags haven't been playing well.

I love pro football. Watch every game slot every week with a few minor exceptions when real life gets in the way.

Tampa Bay should've won that game, or at least it should be OT right now.

Sorry, that would have been against the rules. This is rich - earlier in the season the refs handed the game to TB (the man did not cross the goal before his knee was down). So be it. Paybacks are hell and the Gods of football asked for paybacks from TB by making them think they lost the game by a bad ref came (although this time it was not close, the man did not have possession of the ball everybody could see it was bouncing on the ground below his waist).

Paybacks are hell.

The refs gave Washington this game. Gibbs can't be feeling too confident about the next game right now, if he had to rely on the refs to win.

It was not even a close call. TB did not catch the ball. Like I said, paybacks are hell.
