BTW, the Patriots were masterful, as perusual.

The D got banged up seriosly. Same with Shockey at TE.
You're right ....Coughlin's got a team. Hope they have the heart to go to Detroit.

They just replayed the ref's explanation on ESPN, he didn't say anything about the end zone. He said that as the receiver's knee came down (which was kind of garbly and sounded like he might have said something about the end zone) the ball came loose thus no reception and no touchdown.

I just think that Cincy D is way too awful to succeed in the playoffs.

Well the infamous "I resign as HC of the NYJ" episode has turned out to be one of the best career moves of all time.

It finally got Belichick out from under Bill Parcells' shadow. Had Belichick stayed on to coach the Jets, it would have been a farce because no matter how it turned out, Parcells would have still been perceived as the mastermind, pulling the strings from his "consultant" position.

Consider that of the three times Parcells went to the Super Bowl, he had Bill Belichick running his defense each and every time. Parcells has never been to the Super Bowl without Belichick but Belichick has gone three more times without Parcells. Now we know why Parcells made Belichick the highest paid assistant coach in NFL history - he couldn't afford to have him leave!

What I heard them say was the issue was that the receiver was falling down as he was catching the ball. Any time that that's the case, the receiver has to keep control of the ball when he is ruled down (by contact with the ground in this case).

Contemplating it during idle bored post game interviews time I got to thinking this issue of completion during a fall seems to come up a lot when the ESPN Sunday night crew is doing the game, always seems to be Mike, Paul and Joe discussing the play during the endless replays these types of plays cause. Maybe with that crew breaking up this rule will become less important.

I tell you what, the Sunday Night football broadcasts will improve 10000000000% when those 3 aren't together.

The lead guy isn't that bad, but Maguire and Theismann are absolutely horrible.

Yeah but Monday is going downhill hard because that's where ThEEsmann (original pronunciation of his name before he started campaigning for a certain trophy) is going. I much prefer Paul the ThEEsmann the quarterback apologist (has he ever said an INT was the QB's fault).

Week 2 vs. Jags (Manning): 122 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT
Week 18 vs. Jags (Brady): 201 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT

This Jags D is a for real good D. This was Playoff Brady tonight. He's ready to carry this team on his shoulder.

Since 2001, Belichick is 17-3 (includes the 1/1 Miami game we didn't try to win) when facing a team for the second time in a season. And he is 6-0, since 2001, when he has had the chance to avenge a loss suffered earlier in the season, which would be tested against the Broncos, Colts, or Panthers. Since 2001, he's 44-8 (includes the 1/1 Miami game we didn't try to win) in games in November, December, January and February.

That's a big stat. I've noticed these games as they've occurred. That 31-0 demolishing of Buffalo that was a mirror image of the first meeting that year was excellent.
