*headscratching* You did a search for 'work' as the 'full or part name', left 'a word or phrase' blank, and searched 'local hard drives' and came up with wudata_06? (And the notepad icon indicates it is a 'text' document and will open with notepad.exe..)

It sounds like you did the opposite, unless your computer is just toying with us like a cat.

I wrote down what you told me to do so I would get it right before I started.

The one that looks like a spiral notebook has--logfile_06

The icon that is in full color, that looks like two cogs , says--wudata_06.chk

Those are in the work folder.

Above the box, where I did the search, it says, 'There were 51 files found'. Did you find what you wanted?

wudata_06.chk

There's no other file named "wudata_06"? Just that one?

You're more at risk by casual browsing,

Both my mom and Drill Sergeant warned me about this.

It appears we still need a name. Anybody hear from Tex? He posted a few hours ago and then nothing. Unless I'm missing his posts....

I have to head to the post office (some last minute orders came in) - when I come back, I'll put together an illustrated guide as to what I'm looking for and how to find it, and we'll see if we can get this missing packet for you. :)

I think at this point, it would be easier to "disable" the console client in services, and then have her download the GUI client. At least then, we'll know for certain, the location of the pertinent files. The problem with the console version, they could be anywhere.

While she'll probably lose the work already in progress, it seems like the gui would be much easier to troubleshoot, and since she's cranked out 4 workunits in 4 days, her computer seems more than ample to get her back up to speed in a short time. Her first 46 pointer scored about 15 hours after startup, so we're only talking about losing a few hours worth of work.

Sad, but it'll save a lot of time in the long run.

Let me know if y'all agree, if this sounds like a plan.

I have a comment on this. I am running both clients on one computer. Since the GUI loads as windows loads, it is automatically running. If I open the console version, it sees where the GUI version is and updates according to that unit.

Might it be possible to download the GUI unit and see if it will find what the console version was doing before a full uninstall?

I intend to surf your wake as long as you leave one. GOC sounds like a good name.

The console actually looks for files, and you have to force it with a -local flag in services, if you're running multiple instances. It might be worth a shot though..

Have we tried reinstalling the Console?

When I downloaded the client version, it found the remnants of my gui. I think there's a good shot here.

It sounded good to me last night too... but then again, a lot of things sounded good last night, up until a certain point... :)

I'll be leaving a wake, for awhile to come. If I get off my lazy butt, it'll get even larger...
