New thread for this week.
Congrats to all new members who joined this week!
We've made excellent progress so far and have smoked the DUmmies and Kossacks. Let's keep folding!
There are people who surf the Internet on Commodore 64s.
Really.

LOL! And to think I still have an IBM AT in the garage but threw out my C128 stuff about 10 years ago.
What a dumbass I am.
Pun intended?
ditto
The internet on a Commodore 64?
If I hadn't seen the screenshots myself, I would not have believed it.
In honor of our selves, and our beloved Ronald Reagan, I would submit, for a concensus vote, that the name of the team be changed to "Grumpy Old Conservatives"
Somewhat political, it honors the Gipper, and other than the fact that most of us will DENY being "old", is probably pretty close to the mark.
I still remember the first time I got my hands on a model three with dual 5.25" floppy drives...I was in heaven.
Sadly, the art of programming small seems to be quite a lost one these days. You'd be amazed at this website: http://www.tinyapps.org .
We flew to the moon with a less powerful computer than is found on digital watches today. Now we can't even make a browser behave properly... *checks Task Manager* under 50 MB (Firefox). Quite sad.
oops... forgot to change the tagline.
Excuse me???
Yes, but the Commodore can't render the graphics properly, nor even the text. And it's so S L O W. Also, some webpages are bigger than the entire memory capacity, meaning scrolling back to the top of the page would require reloading the page.
It's also wildly unnecessary.
I could see it on an Amiga maybe.
Now why does that remind me of those two old Muppets? :-)
And in the meanwhile, the midnight update came, and went, we're
#822, and posted 23,633 points today, the 48th highest scoring team today.
I'm just a folding n00b, believe me. But I would point out that I'm 39 (still not "old"); I'm cranky, not grumpy; and I don't think anyone would get "Ronald Reagan" from "Grumpy Old Conservatives."
OTOH, I think we should all get one vote per work unit, and in that vein, I'll take my three votes and STHU. ;OD
I, literally, threw my trash eighty out...when i got my beloved IBM PC-Jr. Ah, the smell of sidecars in the morning!!!
:O)
P
My first computer was the Color Computer with 16k, extended basic, and a B&W TV for a monitor. LOL
Remember the chiclet keyboard?
Steve Gibson for President!!! LOL
I will check back in tomorrow and see if the team founders have agreed on a new name.
Until then, my 4 PCs will continue to fold for #36120.
Oh, of course, you're exactly correct :o)
Memory usage happens to be a programming pet peeve of mine, that's all. ;-) Does anyone, like, remember when entire OSes used to fit on several floppies? Even Win2K had a scaled-down 4-floppy version.
LOL!!!
