Mariah Carey's "Don't Forget About Us" rose to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart, putting her in a tie with Elvis Presley for second place among artists with the most No. 1 singles in the rock era.
Carey and Presley have 17 No. 1 hits, second only to the Beatles, who had 20.

Heck, I could not name any song she has sung, but I do know she is a nutcase.

Unlike Elvis.
I think all her songs sound alike.

... among artists with the most No. 1 singles in the rock era except she caused the end of the "rock era".

She's a nutcase, she's put on weight, she's whatever, but she has a voice. And she will have more hits, since she probably won't die taking a crap before she is done.

The rock era? The rock era's over. I wouldn't have even known she had an album out. There was a question on Millionaire one time about the best selling single of all time or something, and the answer was one of her songs. I had never heard of it and have still never heard it.

I know little of her private life. I'm just not impressed with her.

When did they start making singles again?

So she is - but so was Elvis, and at least Carey isn't addicted to fried peanut butter sandwiches. Mariah has a much better voice than Elvis, moreover, and her latest album was outstanding - a lot of singles from that thing.

Fellow Lawn Guyland girl who is pleasent to look at but can't sing her way out of a paper bag.
Mariah, like small children and dogs, should be seen and not heard.
Better her than Madonna.

her latest album was outstanding - a lot of singles from that thing. That's an oxymoran.
As to her voice, it's like a rookie pitching phenom....great stuff but can't get it over the plate.
To: EveningStar
How do they pick number 1 hits nowadays?
It used to be singles sales combined with airplay, both of which are dinosaurs today.

When she was with her Sony executive husband she was churning #1 song after #1 song. They were fantastic! Ever since she left him she's been acting slutty, and has been singing crap.

I would not believe a thing that the industry tells us about the charts. The music industry is still crooked and run by payola. Stars are truly "made". While Mencken was correct about the taste of the people, I have my doubts that some acts have sold as much as has been claimed. In a day when cd tracks can be converted to mp3s with no problem by any kid with a computer, I refuse to believe that there are just as many multi-platinum artists as years ago.
