"This is the first I've heard of this happening," said Decker. "I don't know what kind of phone it was. I don't know if it was on ring or vibrate, either."

It must have been on ring. If it had been on vibrate, she would have put it in at the other end.

Well gosh, I hope they get it ought of her. My cousin's daughter (at the time, 9 months old) swallowed a watch battery almost exactly one year ago. To make a long story short by the time the medical profession stopped fumbling around she came within a hair's breadth of death. They had to put her into a coma for several weeks after removing her entire esophagus (what was left of it), and patching large holes in her trachea.

She still doesn't have an esophagus. They are working out what to do now. I think they are going to try to reconstruct one from intestinal tissue or something similar, sometime in the coming year.

So just think what a cell phone battery could do...

There was a recent commercial where a dog owner brings the dog to the vet. The dog ate the cell phone. The vet wasn't worried. Neither was the owner until the question of going over the minutes is raised.

The dog owner puts on latex gloves and yells: "STAND BACK! I'M GOING IN!" as he is about to recapture the phone rectally.

Wonder if the girl is up for the challenge?
