My favorite Christmas memory.
Christmas 1967, Chu Lai, Republic of Vietnam
The level of fire was terrific, rifles, machineguns,
flares popping on the perimeter,
it wasn't safe to stick your head above ground level....
And that was just our guys celebrating!
It's a experience, that, that's seared, SEARED in my memory.
Favorite Christmas song, "I want a hippopotomus for Christmas!"
Favorite Christmas movie, "It's a wonderful life".
Favorite line from the movie, "Every time a bell rings,
a democrat has killed a baby."
Sorry if I sound somewhat cynical but today I got my Christmas bonus, after a year of slaving away, I know
a bonus is something extra and that I should be glad
but ..............A STINKING ORANGE???!!!!!
For this I saved the company bacon on numerous occasions???
Baaah. A pox on the house of my boss.
Still, I always have my failing health to fall back on
and my one good leg. Too bad about those Christmas presents
for my family though, perhaps if I but a bill marked paid
in each stocking they'd understand. No? I thought not.

Merry Christmas, and may the joy of the season spread
like a flame in all our hearts.
My three favorite Christmas hymns are;

12 Reasons to Ban Santa (If You're Liberal)
Man...that's a lot of questions! Ooh, the pressure...maybe I'll just tackle some of them.
Let's see...three favorite Christmas songs...probably "Silent Night" (like the lyrics, like singing harmony), "What Child is This" (ditto), and ummm...I'm not sure of the title, but the kinda minor key one that starts off "Lullay Lully". Since I'm posting before reading, someone else has probably named it further down the thread...
Favorite Christmas recipe - there are too many! We usually made at least half a dozen kinds of cookies: spritz (cookie press cookies), gingerbread, sugar cookies, springerle, jam thumbprints, sometimes macaroons, though that might have been because they're Dad's favorite and his birthday is the 21st.
And crafts...well, I remember fondly all the glittery messes we made. Glitter and glue would end up stuck in the oddest places, sometimes to be found months later. Ah, the memories...
For Christmas movies, there's "The Christmas Story," which I like, but didn't grow up with...so it's not really a tradition. "Holiday Inn" and "It's a Wonderful Life" are probably the ones we watched the most - I can turn the sound down on those too and say all the lines. That'll get me far in life, you betcha. Also like "Christmas Vacation", but that's another I didn't watch until I was out of the house.
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a blessed Christmas.
Love the globes at either end of the Merry Christmas tab Scott. I did a crosstitch Christmas stocking very similar one year.
I am sitting here trying to get "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" out of my head by singing "O Rest ye merry gentlemen let nothing you dismay, cause Jesus Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day!" Perhaps I should just turn the radio on!
I also love "Baby it's cold outside".
Favorite movie for Christmas, "The Grinch who stole Christmas" (the old one). Why? Because it's such a tradition, I remember being excited as a child each year when that came on. I especially loved little Cindy Lou Who who was only 2!
And tet68, I guess I beat you on the Christmas bonus, I got a turkey!! Woohoo!
Good job on the thread.
