I agree, but green bean casserole? URGH! I mean look at the photo........it doesn't even look nice!
As for good food.......mmmm I LOVE good food.
Deer Chilli,
brunswick stew
homemade bread and biscuits,
fried chicken
black eyed peas
cornish pasties
roasted chicken
beef stew
Oh I could go on forever, but I am getting hungry! :)
I am not kidding, I bet 12 of the 20 or so folks brought some concotion of greenbean casserole. I ate a lot of turkey that day.
Some may view me as un-American for this, but I loathe ham. Even the smell is a turn off for me. And every holiday, someone cooks a ham for dinner and I go through the same thing...
"Would you like some ham?"
"No, thank you, I don't care for ham."
"What? You don't like ham? You should try my ham!"
"Listen, I won't even eat my own mother's ham, so don't take it the wrong way...."
"Here, try some, you'll like it, really, it's good...."
I also don't care for potato and/or macaroni salad, deviled eggs, cole slaw, or olive/pepper platters.
I've learned to bring my own goodies with me to holiday dinners, so not to go hungry. This year, I am making potato pancakes at my in-laws for everyone. When I'm done, I'll have the place smelling like a summertime church bazaar. That reminds me, pick up beer.
Eliminate the mushroom soup- use celery, chicken or some other cream soup. I still don't love it but I'll eat it.Plus I love to snitch those FF onions out of the can.
What about Ash Wednesday Surprise?
Salt fish for breakfast, Banger and Mash, Blood pudding...
Living in Connecticut, I find boiled okra a great way to impress Yankee friends.
Here, try this...
YUCK is right....can't stand the slimy stuff
I'm with you Max. I love it and my mom makes every Thanksgiving dinner. It's a traditional holiday dish in our family.
At the next FReeper gathering, everyone will bring their version of GBC. Nothing else. No corn, no meat, no nothing, just GBC.
I disagree. Broccoli is the most loathesome and vile food. I'm not the only one who thinks so either :)
Jerry: Hello .
Newman: Hello Jerry.
Seth: And don't forget your steamed broccoli.
Jerry: Hold it, Newman, you wouldn't eat broccoli if it was deep fried in chocolate sauce.
Newman: I love broccoli, its good for you.
Jerry: Really? Then maybe you'd like to have a piece?
[Jerry opens container. Newman takes a piece]
Newman: Gladly.
[Newman spits it out]
Newman: Vile weed!
Jerry: It's Kramer isn't it? The greasy door knob the constant licking of the fingers, he's hooked to the chicken isn't he?
Newman: Yes, now please. Someone, honey mustard.
[Newman drinks mustard like a shot of Henningins ]
I didn't like broccoli until I had it in Chinese food. It no longer tasted like broccoli; it tasted like Chinese food!
I hate ham too, so you are not alone!
And lima beans. Bleah.
I'm not at all a picky eater either and I love veggies.
Now that's a shame, unless, of course, you don't miss eating broccoli.
Oh, ick.
I'll grow okra but I refuse to eat it.
ROFLMAO!!!
Alice, you should try some broccoli from Kenny Rodgers Roasters. It tastes like Chicken.
If something tastes like chicken, it'd better be chicken! :)
