Green bean casserole is both loathesome and vile.

Never was a more wretched dish conceived and proffered under the guise of a holiday speciality.

I love it. My mom never made it growing up and the only time I got it was a church pot-lucks. After I got married, we made it alot and I still love it. What is funny is that at Thanksgiving my mom made the comment that "I made that all the time for you all when you were young". Mom, must have been in an alternative timeline because I never had it.

Better red than green bean casserole. I support revolution to rid the planet of this despicable creation.

Rocky mountain chestnuts are an American dish, too... But not everyone likes eating bull balls!

I also love candied yams with ground pecans sprinkled all over....

I cooked yams the other day for a company "potluck". It was my first attempt. They were "ok". I learned a few lessons, a little more sugar, and a little more spice .

My mum made a good green bean casserole. She called it 'Spanish Green Beans'...modeled after her version of Spanish Rice. Saute onions and chopped bacon together, drain most of the fat off. Add canned green beans and canned tomatoes (or tomato sauce.) Pop into the over & bake 'til bubbly. Good stuff.

" I got it was a church pot-lucks"

Your church must have been infiltrated by satanists.

Prefer fresh green beans... NOT overcooked.

'Casseroles' are for the 'great-unwashed'.
