My blueprint for manned travel to Mars, based on reusable spacecraft that continuously cycle between Earth and Mars in permanent orbits, requires much less energy over the long term. Once in place, a system of cycling spacecraft, with its dependable schedule and low sustaining cost, would open the door for routine travel to Mars and a permanent human presence on the red planet. Its long-term economic advantages make it less susceptible to cancellation by congressional or presidential whim. In effect, this system would go a long way toward politician-proofing the Mars program.

You'll get pinged on the space lists, but you'll want to see this ASAP. :')
Must be everyone is out doing that last minute shopping. ;')
Oops, sorry, forgot ya.
Merry Christmas. :')
I would rather see a Moon Base and proper space station(the whole thing built by one entity instead of multiple countries) first. That is able to sustain a small colony. That way its closer to Earth and self-preservation issues can be worked out easier. Then use the Moon Base as an area of operation for further exploring.
Buzz' suggestion for an orbiting ferry system might be best worked out with our lunar companion body before attempting it with (for example) Mars.
That is also my plan. NASA has this plan. Little else makes any sense at all.
Yep, but the "nobody should be able to own property in space" mantra that so many leftist idiots are spouting(especially at the UN) is not helping anything at all. If they really want space exploration to take off then the US should make land grants on the moon available for colonizing; and different countries and private entities can build competing space stations and bases.

Just looking at the picture makes me homesick for planet earth.
I get that way during the winter, when the planet Earth is ***-deep in snow. ;')
