The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ah, OK. I've bought those before...just didn't know they were "designer" eggs!

Now I feel all fancy and stuff...

Does it make it more healthy that I use designer eggs?

Of course!

There was an article in the paper about 'em, when I read the term "designer eggs" I just howled with laughter. Every company has to have a gimick I guess.

I may be wrong but I didn't think the purpose here *was* to freak out the folks. I could be wrong.

Ok, it is now late enough for me to go to bed. I'll probably talk more tomorrow but I seem to have volunteered to run a brothers' competition to calculate the perfect spot, size, and shape of our Christmas tree, and to do computer maintenance. It'll be fun.

Rosie, Rosie ...

So, I had the interview for this really cool contract job yesterday (Wednesday); I thought it went well. The guy I interviewed with --- the one with the same name as the infamous serial killer --- said he had interviewed one other person, and that he would be making up his mind today, Thursday.

So I call the contractor guy and leave his a vmail, telling him how it went.

And then I waited all day today for a call; nothing from Infamous Serial Killer namesake, nothing from Contractor Guy. I was convinced they'd hired the other guy. I went so far as to leave another message with Contractor Guy this afternoon. DaBear said my message was a bit ... ummm ... biting. So I wrote Contractor Guy a thank-you email.

Ten minutes after I sent the thank-you email to Contractor Guy, I got this back:

You are very welcome. I did receive your voicemails, and apologize for not getting back with you sooner. We are very busy in wrapping up 2005. He is still in the decision-making stage with his Team. I believe that we should have some direction on this tomorrow. I will touch base with you tomorrow with or without a decision. I hope that all is well on your end. Thanks for your follow up.

I said all that to say --- you never know what's going on in the other guy's office, you know?

So, tomorrow, call the college. You know, they may have been distracted by a round of holiday parties ... ya never can say!

This week is also the end of the semester. So...there's that.

But for the other times I've been referred there, I've gotten a call. Hence the nerves. ;-)

Hope you get good news tomorrow!

Mr. Beepy is apparently having a party. No telling when I'll actually get to sleep tonight.

Happy Beethoven's Birthday!

Should we 'roll over'?

That would be applicable here today. Both Joseph and Clare's schools cancelled classes today. This was Joseph's last day before Christmas vacation, and Clare had a Trig final scheduled today. I guess they'll do it on Monday; maybe she'll get an e-mail or a call from her teacher. I don't think they discussed what would happen in the event of a snow day.

We didn't get any snow, it was all sleet and freezing rain, but that is worse. It is just treacherous on the roads in these conditions!

So today will be a baking and Christmas gift wrapping day! I'm fixing to have my first cuppa coffee, then I'm gonna fire up the oven and the Christmas music!

Did the headache effect your vision? Make your eyes sensative? Make your stomach upset?

Those ladies were all done up because they have to be, Ruthy...they aren't fortunate enough to have your stunning genetics!

I'm sure they were sweet, but they were probably very envious of you!

You can go anywhere in the world...you could end up in Tulsa...down near Austin, somewhere in Kansas...maybe Seattle, or California or Philidelphia.

I tell ya, if you stumble on a job in Tulsa, Steve and I would sure help you get on your feet!

My stomach is not upset, I'd say it only made my eyes sensitive in that it's a frontal lobe headache, and things like the TV made my eyes hurt.

I woke up with my head plitting at 1, took two more aspirin, and then again just now at 5. Headache better now, but I wonder if it'll come back in 4 hours ;~\

Gonna drink a lot of water today, I think that's all it really is. Sometimes I go days without drinking anything but coffee.

It sounds like a migraine. They are usually situated in one area of your head. Mine are situated on the left front part of my head. They make your eyes sensitive. I can't watch TV either.

It sounds like what you are doing is the best thing, short of a Demerol shot. Aspirin is the drug of choice for migraines. Aspirin is very hard on your digestive system, it's an acid and can eat a hole right in your stomach...make sure you eat something with each dose.

If it's a migraine and it's gone now...it's gone. Once they go away, they're gone. The aspirin may ease it, but it won't be gone till it's gone.
