Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I could show up like that... but I think Jen would kill me. I'm not the one you need to worry about, remember?
Just got home. It was a tiring trip. I may check in more here or otherwhere later.

Nap time?
The trick would be to look scuzzy enough without so much as to get thrown out. In that case I would just have your folks thinking you had gone totally crazy to bring a guy like me home. Not that I would EVER consider doing such a thing...
:-D
It is Rosie's fault, she dared me!
Hmmm what is the scuzziest shirt I have that would still be warm in PA....

Oh we had such a good time, even allowing for the little darlin behind us who would not shut up, and whose mother kept a running conversation with her the entire time! Good grief! Thankfully, the dancing and music were sufficient to overcome the chatterbox behind us.
The Boston Ballet Theatre did the production, and they are terrific dancers! The ladies dancing the Waltz of the Snowflakes, and later the Waltz of the Flowers were fabulous! They were perfectly in time with each other in both foot AND hand movements! And the two doing the Pas de Deux, in the Palace of Sweets, then their own dances, including the Sugar Plum Fairy were outstanding!!

Nah, they already think I'm totally crazy. We just want them thinking I'm crazy in a good way.
I'm going to try to stay up, incoherent as I am, to a normal Eastern time bedtime. That should help with adjusting to the time zone things and besides the family is nuts anyway so I'm no more nuts than anyone.

Mmmm. Tamales!! SirKit's Mom used to bring a bucket of them to his family's reunion every year. Since his folks are gone, now, and none of the family lives in their hometown, we thought we'd never get them again, but SirKit's sister found them last year. I think they were in the frozen food section of a store on the Coast. Whatever, they were wonderful!!

Nah, just holiday travel woes. A delayed plane in Atlanta and some bad weather on the drive home but I wasn't driving so that was ok. It's good to be around these crazy folks though I am liable to kill one of my brothers if they don't tone it down juuust a little. Only tonight, while I'm weird tired.

Let me see... I will need a big shiny 'peace' symbol on a chain, a multicolor knit stocking cap, a faded olive jacket with communist patches on it, and some ittybitty sunglasses. And then I need to practice my stoned look and smoke all the items of clothing with some incense sticks.... hmmm

I'm glad you had a good time. It's a timeless and wonderful Christmas tradition. Our culture doesn't produce high art like that anymore.
To: TalonDJ; JenB
I just adore watching you two.

Evenin' folkses...
Taking off in a few minutes. A bud got tickets to see some jazz(?) group in Seattle tonight. Should be fun, as long as I'm not the one drivin'. I'd never heard of the group... can't think of the name just now...
We'll see...

Sounds like a fun time!
And since you don't have to do the driving, it's even better. :-D
Went to a lunch meeting today with a client and the HR Rep. I know it's in my head, but I have to tell ya that I haven't ever felt so frumpy and out of place.
Don't want to do that again any time soon. :-/

Bad weather on the drive home? You gots snow? I'm jealous.
*sigh* Got a note in the mail today from the publishing company place saying my skills "aren't a close match" for any open jobs. Huh? I coulda used their job description to write my resume. Stoopid idgits.
Also got a letter from the college saying to call the contact for that other job if I haven't already been called. That's for tomorrow, I guess.

Too bad it's hard to do dreadlocks in a coupla days. That'd help the whole look, too.

Nah, you can do dreads in one session, with beeswax.
