Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm up waiting for a dose of Advil to kick in so I can sleep the rest of the night.
Yeah, you float down the river on a barge, eating iffy TexMex ... but there's a little chill in the air, and more than enough reason to snuggle, and the mariachis sing and play ...! Very nice.

Looks like it's coming our way VEY early in the morning on Friday. Joseph's hoping for no school, and it's his last day before vacation!
Clare and I are off to see "The Nutcracker" at the Opera House in Boston. It will be an adventure. We're driving to Newton to catch the "T", and then it will be just a couple of blocks walk to the Opera House. I didn't want to have to face looking for parking in downtown Boston!

'Course now I have an excuse to get one that burns dual layer DVD's.

Clare and I are off to see "The Nutcracker" at the Opera House in Boston. Have a wonderful time! I'm listening to the score right now - masterful music.

'Course now I have an excuse to get one that burns dual layer DVD's. Shucks. That's just rough!

Mornin'
Miz Hair, you were right. It was a mouse, although OT was close too, we have lots of them jumpy crickets in the garage.
Jr. came upstairs around midnight-thirty (more on that in a minute) and said "Abby caught a mouse." So I went to survey the damage/mess. 'Course she hadn't kilt it yet. It got a way a couple of times and she managed to get it back. Then it finally went off under the sink. It was just a little feller, not more'n 2 inches. She was lookin' for it again this mornin'.
All in all, I'm rather proud of her. We've had her for about 9 years and she's been an indoor cat. Who knew she still had it in her?
And, speakin' of Jr. stayin' up too late, he missed the bus ~again~ this morning. If I had gone to the gym, he would've been screwed. As it was, he came in our room at 7 and I said "start walkin'." It's only two miles and it was just a ~little~ bit of freezin' rain. But, I didn't need to give the Mrs. another reason to cry, so I drove him. And was late to work again.

Who knew she still had it in her? Well, she did let it get away... Hope she doesn't get a lot more practice :~D

I think it got away 'cause Jr. and I were trying to get it from her to get it outside.
I'm thinkin' that, with the spiders and all, once we're all relatively ambulatory again, we'll just put the house in a big ol' Hefty bag and fumigate real well.

The idea of a house-size Hefty bag is...intriguing.
I didn't hear the doorbell last night, but apparently the shuttle thingie came, 'cause Jen's gone.

Well, she did let it get away... Awwww....she just wanted something to play with.

I was definitely figuring on the riverwalk if at all possible. Will probably go for some of the better and non moving restaurants around there. Mainly because I miss really good Tex/Mex up here in Iowa. :D
That and maximizing romanticiticalness is not the main objective.
We only have two full days broken up as one and two halves. That limits things quite a bit.
