The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Do I even want to know what that means?

Does sound rather shocking, doesn't it? Heh...

I know it's anime, but that's as much as I know.

From what I understand it's being released all over.

It's the story of Jim Elliot ("He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep for what he cannot lose").

He and four other missionaries were martyred in Ecuador in the 1950s. Their wives later went in and evangelized the tribes. His wife Elizabeth is a speaker and writer.

Anime? Bleach? Color me clueless.

I did see a Fruits Basket calendar at the mall though.

No pun intended, right? 'Cause I think bleach makes things white...

Well then, it's no wonder I haven't heard of it.

The MSM is too busy promoting Brokeback Mountain instead. :-/

Yippee!!

That's less than half an hour from me!

Will you be traveling with her or should I just do a moot-by-proxy?

To: RMDupree; All
I don't mind.

In other news, I have been dismissed. There is not to be another wedding in my family for the forseeable future.

It's actually an answer to prayer: "Lord, if it's right, make it obvious; if it's wrong, shut it down this day." So He did.

Thank you, Lord, for Your speedy answer to specific prayer. Grant unto me, O Lord, a help-meet in Your own good time, and preserve in health and happiness she whom you have withdrawn from me, and her children, I ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

(((XGI)))

You do have the right attitude. It's much better to be alone than with the wrong person.

Take it from me.

Don't know yet. Her company doesn't ~encourage~ spouses attending the meeting (not sure if it's forbidden or not). But I have to be in Kentucky in June and beach week is the end of July.

And it seems like there might be somewhere else to go this summer...

But perhaps we could manage a hastily planned Florida moot for anyone interested?

Hmmmm...

At least He didn't push ya thru the ~attic~ ceiling...

Sorry bro. We'll pray for the right things to work out for ya.
