Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, I went packed and ready to stay till Sunday, but the command post said we weren't needed any more and could go. So I got up this morning at 2:30am, left at shortly before three and got there at 5am and helped make breakfast, then helped re-load all the ovens and supplies back into the trailer. Got home around 2pm and took a 2 hour nap. Everything except the actual serving of the meal was done outside and I'm really sun and wind-burned!
It was something to see, however...the actual command center was a huge room with all these people sitting at computer screens monitoring something and huge TV at one end...reminded me of NASA in Houston.
When I was driving in, it was very dark and I kept thinking something was burning in my car. On the way home I realized it was the earth around the road I was driving on (I-40...of the collapsed bridge fame) that smelled. It wasn't on fire, but acres and acres were scorched black.

Yes, indeed, that's exactly right! The only thing I didn't learn about a feeding unit was how to set one up. Excellent on the job training!

Excellent! Was it enjoyable, or just interesting because you were able to do something useful?

The name still works!
To: HairOfTheDog
Indeed! So she's a... he?
I'll be here at work just a bit longer... just waiting for the graphic designer to send a new banner that the boss wants on the website tonight.
