The Hobbit Hole XXVI - Home is behind, the world ahead
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 12/11/2005 8:37:40 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Home is behind, the world ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm just... interested... that most of the comments are about the house. Heh.

We slipped this picture into a roll of boring ones that we put in my grandma's camera. She took a minute, apparently, to realize what it was. Heh heh heh.

There are a couple of toys like that in their room now. :-D

I try to delay replacing batteries when I can. But Alyson will now march right up to me and say "Mommy! Batteries, pleeeease."

The OB/LSA Christmas 2004 Season is officially over as the decorations are all in ~ the attic ~ and all ceilings are intact.

~sigh~

Yet another thing I didn't get done on my to do list. That and I still need to get to thegym since I'm takin' Mrs. to the airport in the a.m. for a 6:30 a.m. flight tomorry mornin'. Then I'm goin' on into Fangorn.

I ~did~ get the linen closet purged (and color coordinated). Gots three more bags for Goodwill. Didn't see the reason to keep towels we got as wedding presents, crib sheets or sheets for a full size bed (there ain't one in this house).

The same deal applies. Don't tell Nana.

Friends brought over dinner. That was nice. But we cain't get to it until the insurance man leaves. He's signin' Nana up for her new prescription drug plan.

Works for me. I got the printout of her meds for last year from thedrugstore. Last year alone she spent over $3800 for drugs.

And that don't count the times when she was in the hospitial or thenursinghome and her drugs were covered by them.

The guy just called. They got the part and are sending the courtesy shuttle van out to pick me up.

Well, it went without saying that y'all are a cute couple, and we'd seen both of you before, but not your parents' house.

Sneaky Petes! What did Grandma say when she saw the picture? ;o)

Yowsers!! That was one thing that was helpful with Mama. She did have some prescription drug coverage. Some of the Alzheimer's drugs are VEY pricy!

BTW, what's wrong with the towels you got as a wedding present? ;o) I just realized that a few of the ones I still have I got at the shower that the girls gave me when I left my job in Pascagoula in the summer of 1975! There are even some threads left in the dang things!

I got a notice in the mail the other day (vey timely) that the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Foundation are going to be in my area doing a frap pickup on Jan 11th. WooHoo. It's gonna be dump frap time at our house next week, and the best part is that all I gotta do it get it out to the driveway!

really hoping we'll be able to work something out with you guys so we can meet!

Most definitely! Will you be in Texas the weekend on the 13th, then? Maybe we can meet for lunch or dinner on Saturday or Sunday? I'll be working then, so we won't be able to make it down there Friday or Monday.

Heh...

The Saturn place had to order the part from somewhere else...warehouse or something. Anyway, it was getting close to quitting time at the Saturn place and their parts guy still hadn't shown so they pulled a cap from one of the cars on the lot.

Hmmmmm.....wonder which car will be the first for a test drive tomorrow...

You could always repaint or re-paper the bathroom...

Or put them out for visiting relatives that you're trying to get rid of.

If your mind ray was properly calibrated, how were my parents able to overdose us on lemon drops?

That's the weekend! We'll be gone before Monday anyway so I think Saturday was the optimal day. But I don't know the plan, I am just going with the flow.

Heh, they're in the kids' bathroom and they're light yellow. They with anything, but look nice with the blue I've used in there since we first moved here.

Saturday would probably work best for us too. But, we want to be careful not to intrude on any family time, so just let us know if/when it's convenient! If it turns out not to be, then we'll just have to wait until another time.
