Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts. She gets a little better each day, but remains weak. Hopefully her recovery will reach some sort of critical mass very soon.
All the best and Happy New Year!

Good morning Sam!
I'm so happy to hear that Jeanne is recovering. Prayers continue...
Kids were supposed to return to school today, but I'm being a bad parent and letting them stay home with me. :-)

I was sure you had. Had to ask for my own peace of mind since I forgot to remind you like I'd promised. Thanks!

Physically possible? No... not with a thousand mile commute involved... but doing New Year's Eve what we did New Year's Day would be fun. Well, parts of it.

Boy, we sure woke up to a ruckus at 3 am. Yipping and screeching in the woods. It woke us up and we went out and listened long enough to assess that it was relatively close in the woods, involved at least one or two coyotes, and something was being hurt. That's all I really know. I couldn't really tell, but I ~think~ the voices were all canine. I think it was a fight between coyotes. The weird thing is, standing there not knowing what else to do, I yelled "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!!" as LOUD as I could and it just stopped. Instantly. No followup... No sound of anything running off. Just nothing more. That was just as puzzling as the noise itself. We looked around with our spotlight and saw nothing.

Where did you get this documentary, winmag? Was it one that was with the extended ROTK? I haven't watched any of that material yet.

Give Jeanne our very best, and you know she's in our prayers for a steady recovery, even it if takes some time. Will y'all stay in VA for a while, or is she OK to travel back to FL?

Well Jen goes back to FC at the end for the week. Then we both are heading to my folks place in TX the Friday after next.

Joseph had a snow day for the last day of school before vacation; looks like he'll have another for the first day back after vacation! We have a Nor'easter bearing down on us tonight into tomorrow. I haven't seen any snow estimates yet, but according to weather.com it's supposed to start snowing this evening and continue all through the day tomorrow!

Huh. Their mutual fear of you made them forget their own quarrel with each other. :-D
