Check out the ESPN article below. It states that "Michael Irvin will not make his scheduled appearances" this weekend. But it conveniently fails to mention that ESPN suspended him.
I suppose you can figure that out by reading between the lines, but to actually see the "S" word used, you would have to go to another media source, such as this MSNBC article, which is flatly headlined "ESPN Suspends Irvin Following Drug Arrest":

Some mighty sensitive souls in Bristol, CT, no?
----------------------------------------
Michael Irvin will not make his scheduled appearances on the Sunday and Monday Night NFL Countdown shows on Dec. 4 and 5, ESPN announced Thursday.
The former Cowboys wide receiver, who is in his third year as an analyst for the network, will resume his regular role on Sunday, Dec. 11.
Irvin was stopped for speeding on Friday, Nov. 25, in Plano, Texas, and arrested on an outstanding warrant for a previous speeding violation. His car was searched, revealing a pipe and plastic bags with marijuana residue.
He was then charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody by the Plano police, and released later that evening.
ESPN first learned of the arrest on Sunday, Nov. 27.
"I understand I was wrong for not divulging the information on Friday," Irvin said today. "I accept ESPN's decision and look forward to return to my teammates next week."
I saw an interview with Irvin on local (Dallas) TV, and without a script, he can barely put two coherent words together in a row!
It was almost impossible to make out what he was trying to say.
Yup, that's Donald. I'm sure your 40 yd. time is way faster ;-)
what kind of suspension is it when he already knows when he is going to be back on air (Dec 11th)?
ESPN is treating this like they believe his story.
Interesting. I have to say that I've been pleasantly surprised by his unique point of view on the pre-game shows this year. I do think he adds something to the mix. That doesn't excuse his current mess, of course.
Agreed, and in does strain credulity. In fairness, though, the MSNBC story does include information tending to support Irvin's version of events.
He left rehab or at least that is what Irvin's preacher friend says.
He said he was overrated at the time. Not that he wouldn't turn out to be a excellent QB down the line.
They have way to many stupid programs on all their channels now.
Looks like the lawyers told ESPN to be careful what they say.
You're probably right, though it's hard to see why ESPN couldn't call a suspension a suspension.
Yes indeed.
He first told the police that it belonged to his brother. Then he stated that it was a friend who he considered to be a brother. I'm surprised he didn't claim it was his wife's pipe.
Maybe they espnded him...
LOL!
The b---- set me up!
Believe me...I am not "dissing" Brett...I have been a big fan of his...maybe I am just projecting that I would hate to go from being MVP..and Super Bowls, to a couple win season...
Sorry..
Not really, to be honest. The guy was playing with a sports hernia for the majority of the season.
yeah...
we will see. the man maintains his story and it hasn't wavered.
In analyzing Irvin's story, think about this. How did he find out that this "friend" even had the pipe? Think about it...... Did he ask the guy AFTER arriving back home "Yo dog, you gotta pipe?" If that happened, I'm sure the "friend" would have said "Naw Playmaker.....I'm straight up!". So, did Irvin frisk him? Did the "friend" just realize he had it and gave it up? Or......were they pulling on the peace pipe together? You decide......
Don't forget the kids.
