Check out the ESPN article below. It states that "Michael Irvin will not make his scheduled appearances" this weekend. But it conveniently fails to mention that ESPN suspended him.
I suppose you can figure that out by reading between the lines, but to actually see the "S" word used, you would have to go to another media source, such as this MSNBC article, which is flatly headlined "ESPN Suspends Irvin Following Drug Arrest":

Some mighty sensitive souls in Bristol, CT, no?
----------------------------------------
Michael Irvin will not make his scheduled appearances on the Sunday and Monday Night NFL Countdown shows on Dec. 4 and 5, ESPN announced Thursday.
The former Cowboys wide receiver, who is in his third year as an analyst for the network, will resume his regular role on Sunday, Dec. 11.
Irvin was stopped for speeding on Friday, Nov. 25, in Plano, Texas, and arrested on an outstanding warrant for a previous speeding violation. His car was searched, revealing a pipe and plastic bags with marijuana residue.
He was then charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody by the Plano police, and released later that evening.
ESPN first learned of the arrest on Sunday, Nov. 27.
"I understand I was wrong for not divulging the information on Friday," Irvin said today. "I accept ESPN's decision and look forward to return to my teammates next week."
Tonight, there was a white powdery substance spilled on the LBJ Freeway in Dallas. Michael Irvin was seen on the road with a straw in his nose...
I like ESPN, but they are clearly treating Irvin with kid gloves. And in the back of my mind I can't forget the way they kicked Rush out for the crime of saying something that wasn't PC.
Maybe ESPN didn't put the word "suspend" in their announcement, because they are afraid that Arlen Specter would come after them....lol
A bowl and bags with "residue." That's lamer than a parking ticket. I expected more from Irving--maybe a couple kilos of Columbian pure and trunk full of dead hookers.
I thought the pipe belonged to a friend. A friend that was in rehab. Wait a minute, was does a guy who was in rehab need a pipe?
Recieved this via email from a good buddy who's a stone Bears' fan:
Green Bay, WI

Anthrax Scare at Lambeau Field
Green Bay Packers football practice was delayed nearly two hours today
after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on
the practice field. The Packer's head coach, Mike Sherman, immediately
suspended practice while police and federal investigators were called to
investigate.
After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the
white substance unknown to the players was the goal line. Practice was
resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter
the substance again.
Don't you give him any credit for his creativity?
According to Irvin, the stuff belonged to a friend. Irvin found it when he frisked him when he invited him to his house for Thanksgiving.
Irvin didn't want to throw it in his garbage because he was worried about people searching through his garbage. So he stuck it in his car, planning to throw it away somewhere else later. But he forgot.
I am an avid former ESPN viewer for over 10 years now, and lovin' it.
Well Rush got the last laugh judging by McNabb's horrible aborted season.
Brett Favre is waiting in the parking lot for you ;-)
LOL
That's like the old joke about Bubby Brister sleeping in his car because someone painted an endzone on his house and he just couldn't get in.
LOL! He prolly couldn't catch me...
I'd have to say that Rush was wrong in his judgment of McNabb. He turned out to be an excellent QB who got his team to the Super Bowl. That he got injured doesn't change that.
But being wrong is not a firing offense - if it were there would be no sports journalists left. He was fired for being un-PC. In contrast ESPN is treating Irvin with super-kid gloves.
Donald Driver can. And he's ticked ;-)
LOL---do you think Favre is regretting playing another year??
I am thinking that he would love to have gone out like John Elway...on top!
Seems like a lot of people have missed it, but ESPN's gone down the tubes the last five years or so.
Well, I still think that Brett is super and look forward to the day he is inducted into the Hall of Fame. I think he played this year 'cause he just loves the game soooo much...
( ;-D
