After two weeks of riding my bicycle everywhere, I'd gotten used to people treating me as if I were somehow not right in the head. Store clerks ignored me, old men gave me the hard stare, soccer moms avoided eye contact. After all, almost nobody in America rides a bike if they can afford a car. . . .

Liberals are such hypocrites. I've commuted to work on my bike in 110 degrees in Phoenix (24 mile round trip, including hills) and in the teens on the East Cost.

But I haven't written any whiny self-righteous articles about it, before going back to car...

Would love to read the follow-up article when the author has children. He'll be sending love letters to the big oil companys for sure! ;o)

my bike is my transportation on occasion but my pleasure most of the time(2-3K miles /yr), This article brings to mind the "star" in 40 year old virgin and his transportation.
