Lingerie Store Window Has Live Models
1 hour, 32 minutes ago
AUGUSTA, Maine - In this town, window shopping is attracting a lot more guys than usual. A lingerie store called Spellbound is grabbing attention with live models in the window. Some people have complained, but police say there is nothing illegal about the lingerie models.
"It's tainting the wholesome businesses down here," said Carrie Rossignol, co-owner of Video Game Exchange. "I think it's selfish, and I think it's morally reprehensible."
Another downtown merchant likes the idea, saying the models are attracting more potential customers to the area.
"It's like a New York thing. It's urban. It's edgy," said Stacy Gervais, owner of Stacy's Hallmark Store and a founder of a downtown merchants group. "We need a shtick something that we do that attracts people and gets us remembered."
Spellbound owner Felicia Stockford said she has had no trouble finding staffers. She said the young women enjoy strutting their stuff in the shop window.
A passerby returns a wave from window girls (from left to right) Tara Manns, 20, of Readfield, Amanda Richards, 21, of Augusta, and Jesyka Clark, 18, of Augusta on Friday afternoon as they sit in the window of Spellbound on Water Street in downtown Augusta.
OK more pictures
TRANSLATION: If I put geeks who play video games in the windows, I'll scare away customers.
In Augusta Maine? Don't they get a bit cold?
"Oh, shaddup, Ethel!"
Mmm, suddenly window shopping sounds like fun.
!!!!!!!!
Also, nerds are scared of girls; ergo, the scantily-clad girls will scare off all the nerds, and video game sales will plummet.
Did somebody say "shtick"?
Can you bring lawn-chairs?
"'It's tainting the wholesome businesses down here,' said Carrie Rossignol, co-owner of Video Game Exchange. 'I think it's selfish, and I think it's morally reprehensible.'"
He's right, who's going to want to look at Lara Croft's boobs when the real thing is down the street?
"OK. I'll take the one on the left. And can you gift-wrap it?"
Here was the sign in the window:
Ha ha! Mr. Legs and I were at the mall on Black Friday, and Abercrombie & Fitch had a couple shirtless guys modeling outside the store. As we passed by, my husband said (in a loud and carrying voice) "Put a shirt on, you fairy!"
Totally broke the guy's concentration, and he starts looking around wildly for the source of the insult...
I really can't take him anywhere.
Sounds like I could go shopping with Mr. Legs. Has he ever taken his TV remote to the mall and had fun with all the TV's that most stores have?
But then, rules were meant to be broken.
One lousy pic? Come on guys, we can do better. I'm not outraged yet. Maybe if I could see the front of them, and maybe if they were wearing a catholic school girl's uniform.
I'm sure they have a heater near that window. Looks cold outside.
