Man Smokes, Urinates In Aisle; United Diverts Flight,

CHARLOTTE, N.C -- Pilots diverted a United Airlines flight traveling from Orlando, Fla., to Washington, D.C., after a passenger lit a cigarette and urinated in the aisle.
The plane landed Friday night in Charlotte, N.C., where the man was taken into custody by federal authorities.
A United Airlines spokeswoman said flight attendants noticed the man appeared drunk not long after the plane left Orlando. She said the man later lit a cigarette and began to argue with a flight attendant who asked him to put it out.
The spokeswoman said that, after the exchange, the man stood up and urinated in the plane's aisle.
Me either. I just read about it.
"A United Airlines spokeswoman said flight attendants noticed the man appeared drunk not long after the plane left Orlando."
That fact was easily deduced from the title. I bet his fellow passengers wanted to sock him.:)
It's nice to see that real violent crimes have been reduced to the extent we can lavish federal enforcement on drunken crazies who urinate in public, or even worse smoke.
/rimshot
I'll consider it if I am ever motivated to do so again, though.
come on,- unless the guy took a dump on the beverage cart this is not news.
There should be something attendants should be able to do instead of divert an entire flight. I don't know. What do you think? Is there some kind of shot they can give someone to knock them out? I know that's extreme but if my flight was delayed 10 hours because of some drunk in the aisle I'd be SOOO pissed off.
I remember reading about that...I remember it being a big thread here, so it was less than 10 years ago!

True story:
I was boarding an aircraft at DIA. I was dress in my usual; black military nylon flight jacket, black Dockers, black shirt, black military flight boots, mirrored shades, black carry on nylon zipper bag. So whom did the guards grab out of the line to do a last min check? A little old lady (she looked in her 70s) using a walker who was trying to pre-board when called. They just dumped her purse all over the counter. By the time I passed her (still being frisked) she was in tears.
"Isn't this an argument about why women shouldn't be allowed to breastfeed in public. Urinating and breastfeeding are the same, you know."
LOL Good one!
Max, weren't you on that flight? WAS THAT YOU???? I remember you telling me last week that the next time some stoopid flight attendant made you put out your smoke, you were gonna take a piss in the aisle.
I always try to smuggle a lighter on flights.
I'm one for three. TSA has confiscated two of 'em. They've always been pleasant about it, but they keep the lighter.
I have a solution, however:
When you arrive at your destination, visit the TSA. Ask them for a confiscated lighter. I did this at EWR, and the TSA guy was very accomodating. He presented me with a plastic bin full of lighters and said, "Take your pick."
That way, there's no panic when you really, really, really want a cigarette when you exit the terminal.
My were remarks were true but I didn't claim it as such as the details were so horrifying as not to be believable if I had told the whole story.
Funny when government gets involved how they can really ugly up a situation. My wife and some other area FReepers saw the President several times during the last campaign - it was amazing how efficient the 'private' security was. One in particular was the Pontiac Silverdome - even at a third capacity the crowd had to be pushing 30,000 (local news said to be the biggest of the campaign) and we were all checked for metal, purses, cameras, phones, and so forth and only took a few minutes to get in.
So what's the problem? Did they outlaw smoking on all flights?
LOL! I forgot that one!
Wrong. Try again
Neither do you do your comments
