LEE — A 13-year-old boy playing with matches and fireworks caused his parents home on Spencer Lane to be destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon.

The two-alarm fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. in the home's attached garage where the youth was playing with the matches, Lee Police Chief Chet Murch said.

The fireworks lit off a gas tank, which led to the fire spreading to the rest of the house, according to Lee Fire Chief Joe Lombardo.

Ok so today I was at work and I picked up my copy of the local New Hampshire "Foster's Daily Democrat" and on the front page was this story:

Lee home ruined: Teen playing with matches, fireworks accidentally sets house on fire

Now, in the article were these two pictures, have a good look at each and then ask yourself "what's wrong with this"?

BEFORE:

AFTER:

If you missed it the first time, I will give you a hint:

What are the firemen doing in the SECOND picture that they should be doing in the FIRST?

Let me guess. Both towns forget to bring a quarter so they couldn't flip to decide who was in command.

Probably at the pawn shop selling items from the house.

How many hoses are being squirted in the first picture: the one where the house still exists and all the firemen are just standing around watching it burn?

The owners had no business painting those shutters that color.

Did I get it?

In the first photo, the roof is fully involved. The house is a total loss and only minutes away from being engulfed. Roofing materials are highly flammable and resist extinguishment with water.

No amount of water these guys could have brought to bear would have made the slightest bit of difference towards saving that structure.

I don't know...do you have a magical power to tell what's going on outside the frame of the first picture?

No, but I can tell in the section of the pic I can see (that's where the house is burning and the firemen are all standing around doing nothing) that they ain't using that squirty thing on the ground to put no water on the burny part of the roof.

And in trying to be funny, you just look "ignert" because you can't tell if the hydrant is blocked, somebody else is preparing the pump, and about a dozen other reasons they might not be using that "squirty thing" when the picture was taken.

But hey, as long as you can make a clever quip, why bother seeking out all the facts, eh?

That's the whole point: it's a funny picture! Explaining it would take away the FUN part. Ever read a malapropism in a newspaper headline?

Like: "Grandmother of eight makes hole in one"?

Obviously there is an explanation but that would make it not as funny!

so now it's just a "poking fun" instead of saying the firemen werent' doing there jobs, eh?

What changed from post 1 to post 15?

lame 'joke'. BAscially you tried to make it out like the firemen weren't doing their job based on a picture of a very small part of the scene.

let me guess, you think carrot top is funny, right?
