Flash on Regis & Kelly this morning. He's afraid of the dentist. Amazing what a guy is afraid of that can drive 200mph!

He went on safari during the off season, I wonder if he went with JJ?

Eureka has had over 28" of rain since Dec 1st. That is at least double normal...

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2006, will go down as a watershed moment for JR Motorsports.
Late in the evening the crew fired off the very first in-house, No. 88 Chevrolet to be powered by a Richard Childress Racing motor. The Hopkins chassis was skinned by the JR Motorsports fabrication department that is headed by Robert, Junior and Jimmy Gee. The Gee brothers are uncles of car owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the sons of racing fabrication pioneer Robert Gee Sr.

I was wrong on the rainfall total as it's 21" but it will be 28 by tonight at the pace it is dumping right now.

I was at a point a couple of weeks ago that I thought I had beaten down the evil urge to continue following Nascar, however I now must report I'm running with the wrong crowd...

I wonder what they were shooting?

Speaking of, what are you shooting (with)? I have almost convinced myself to go digital, but since I don't know anything at all about them and the net gives me massive amounts of data I can do nothing with, I will just start asking. Please and thank you.

TB, when it gets around two feet, it doesn't matter anymore.

Amazingly I have a 9 year old Sony Mavica that uses floppy discs. I'm still back in the dark ages of digital.

I did have an occasion to use a Canon [I think is was RS something] a few weeks ago that had a zoom feature. If I were to buy one now that would be what I would look for. I think the megapixels are not as important??? There was a thread running about a week ago on this subject.

Well not directly but I feel a need to keep up with my peers so I'm looking at Speed TV and internet sites so when Y'all report something I can say "I know that"...

Seen some in the Blue Ridge like that. Crooked land and a lot of water just don't mix!

You may consider packaging and shipping some of it to Texas. Label it with:
"This is actual rain."

Thanks. I was looking at a Kodak at Christmas, never made up my mind, that had a 10X zoom, 5 meg. Seemed the best of both, but Kodak gets whacked by all the pros (or wanna be pros). Thus continued confusion.

A couple of years ago some dude wanted to ship our excess water south in huge rubber bladders towed by tugs. They were about as big a medium size submarine. Nothing came of it.

I just had to use a umbrella for the first time to walk to our mail box 200 feet down the drive...

We have had rainy seasons like that down here too. Remember one winter where the sun came out three times in four months. Sure was green when it finally stopped. :)

I would check out Sony & Canon. 10x zoom is really good, you will need that at the track. The good pics I took at Texas were all with my Canon 35-70mm lens.

Now for MY daily dose of Jr. He and his Navy #88 driver Mark McFarland appear to be discussing track setups at Daytona today during Busch testing.

Jr's ride in the Daytona Busch race. Kewwwwwwwwwwwwl looking piece! And, he was on top of the board this morning with the a and b car.

Jr's Journal entry....

Friday, Jan. 20

We'll be testing our Busch Series cars at Daytona this weekend, which is exciting since I'll be there as a driver and a car owner. My JR Motorsports guys have been working hard on our speedway car, and this will be our first chance to see how we stack up against the competition. I'm also looking forward to driving DEI's #8 Oreo car again. Pops (Tony Sr.) and the guys have labored long and hard to get that car ready. We'll see how it all shakes down during the three-day test this weekend which, to be honest, will feel like a break considering I've been so busy this week working on some of my new projects.

Hopefully by now you've heard about my new show on SPEED Channel called "Back in the Day." I was a big fan of Bud Lindemann's old "Car and Track" show, which aired for a long time on Speedvision (remember those days?). I came up with the idea of recreating Bud's old show with modern touch. SPEED Channel liked the idea, and we're on board to do 13 episodes starting Feb. 13 at 9:30 p.m. ET. Also, you might've heard I'll be hosting my own XM Satellite Radio show. It, too, will begin airing the week of Feb. 13 on NASCAR Channel 144, but it won't be solely about racing. I'll talk about a variety of things, and will even bring on my buddy Josh Snider for additional commentary. You can read more about this stuff in the News Center. So as you can see, we've got a lot of things lined up for the upcoming season, and we hope you find it entertaining and worth your while. I'll try to check in with ya after the test, but I've got a Tylenol commercial to shoot on Monday so it will probably be after that. Ya'll be good. Junior.

That's what everyone was pointing towards, except none had the zoom until you really jacked up the price. Our 35mm has never been the same since Cancun. I can take stills, but the shutter seems to have a mind of it's own now, ya never know when it's going to click.

From Mikeys PR guy...

Michael Waltrip And Jasper Form Waltrip-Jasper Company: President and CEO of Michael Waltrip Racing, Inc., Michael Waltrip and President of JASPER, Doug Bawel, announced today they have formed Waltrip-Jasper Racing Company, LLC.

Waltrip-Jasper Racing will field the #55 NAPA AUTO PARTS NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Dodge in 2006, driven by Waltrip. Bawel has been in racing for over 15 years, previously as an owner of Penske-Jasper Racing Company’s #77 Kodak Dodge. Bawel will serve on the Board of Directors and will be active in business management and sanctioning body relationships for the new company. “I have been in the sport as a driver for 22 years and the logical progression for me was ownership at the highest ..........

Also...Former DEInc. Executive, Ty Norris Joins Waltrip-Jasper Company Along With Veteran Crew Chief Larry Carter: Additionally, Waltrip-Jasper Racing has created their own team of people. The foundation of Waltrip-Jasper Racing is sculpted with experienced people vested in NASCAR. Ty Norris, former EVP of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. will serve as the general manager overseeing the operation.

Waltrip’s long-time confidant, Bobby Kennedy will serve as the Competition Director and Larry Carter, a veteran crew chief, has also been contracted by Waltrip-Jasper Racing to be a part of the team. “I know how intense this business is and I am prepared for the challenge,” Waltrip said. “I am committed to being successful as an owner and I think the industry will recognize that when they see the caliber of personnel and sponsors I am bringing into this organization. But, there are a lot of days when I anticipate I will need my sense of humor, so I believe I will keep it.” - Michael Waltrip Racing PR

Ok, GGRRRRRRRRRRRRR DEI let Ty Norris get away.

This also sets a precedent that teams with a lot of money can buy their way into not having to qualify on time. This bumps Morgan-McClure #4 team out!!
