Just trying to stir up trouble. Looks like it worked. :P

Quite well it appears. Only wish we had more ladies on here. In truth, I'm one of the milder ones. And I can take a joke.

What are things like in the Ozarks these days? Is there any true hillbilly culture there, or have the tourists taken over?

It's a deal as long as you promise not have the clerk fondle all the hot dogs to find just right one when all I want is "5 bucks on number 4".

Dang! I didn't win the Mega Millions again!

Join the club. I just found out I had to put my purchase of 20 acres on hold.

Actually, I went canoing through the Okeefenokee once. I preferred being in the front.

First, let me say, a lake is nothing, I could be the one in control on a lake, we might go round in circles but we'd get there. A crick (creek) or river is totally different. Requires some skill there. Women like men who have skills.

That's what I'm talking about. Women only want boyfriends who have great skills like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, or computer hacking skills.

Maybe-----but this one has 100 TERABYTES of memory, operating at 200 Ghz!! (a DVD-RAM is NOWHERE near that fast. Plus-- NO moving parts). Remember-- this is FICTION!!

Dang, wish I could get one for my Pentium II's, would not need a new HD, ever. B-)

Alas, when I was growing up in a small town west, we had mostly hillbilly (good, decent, salt of the earth). Yep, mostly city folks now. I suspect there are enclaves of these good people but even I have moved to the city, too far to work. That's been within the last 10-15 years.

Sweet of you to ask but most are gone, just in the past few years. And I ain't that old! 46, things were different. I could still quilt and can produce, but I think I'm one of the few.

The Okeefenokee is a neither a lake nor a creek: it is a swamp. And you definitely want to make sure you're in control when you see those alligator heads starting to peer up at you.

Women like men who have skills...? Hhmm...you got me there.

In the story, the computer programmer terrorist explains that HMS memories were being readied for public introduction, to replace hard drives and other storage mediums. The computer was an experimental one, designed for the military, as an AI experiment machine--- and the terrorists hijacked it.

I ADMIT-- if one tries to over analyze things, they will find plenty of factual errors. But, in a fictional story, you have some leeway--- NONE of this is meant to be applicable to the real world--- HAL wasn't (then, or now), nor is Omni-One, Starshield or the Neutron multiplier--- they are known as PLOT DEVICES.

haha, I wondered if you'd catch that! Yes, we want skills but none of the forementioned. Except maybe the bowhunting skills....

And as for those of us intellectual types-- are we to just be left to "twist in the wind"?
