Help from Florida FReepers. SunPass or E-Pass? I will be moving to Florida and I am wondering which is better for someone who will be traveling the state on business and using Orlando airport.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Chit/Chat; Travel
KEYWORDS: epass; sunpass
Any help would be graciously accepted, and contest winners will be given instructions as to how to take two and one half "Attaboys" out of petty cash.

Snide comments are always welcome and will be retained in memory for future retaliatory action(s).

Thank yew!

Joe might know, but he's gotten overpriced lately.

He doesn't do squat for anything less than THREE attaboys.

1. Sunpass

2. Why the hell would you want to live in Orlando?

Not going to live in Orlando, just use the airport.

Moving to Winter Haven.

What is the difference between the two and why are there two electronic toll devices anyway?

One would think that they'd be interchangable,as is the case in the notheast...two "competing" passes ("Fast Lane" and "EZ Pass")that can be used on the other system.

Yep, I have Fast Lane. Works everywhere except NH and Maine. GRRRR!

Works all the way down to Washington, DC. Do they still have tolls in Richmond, VA? I use the by-pass and haven't been through downtown or on the Powhite in years.

Just checked the Sunpass website (to satisfy my curiosity) and found this:"In the Orlando area SunPass works on E-Pass and O-Pass roads"

Hope this helps.

Yep, I have viewed both sites for Sun and E and still couldn't figure out why two and which is better?

Guess I'll just move and read the label on them at Publix or CVS or wherever I buy one.

Riding to Orlando airport we went through one toll booth for SunPass and one for E-Pass. Both 75 cents. $3.00 to get to/from the airport. Shades of Logan with the Masspike and the Williams tunnel.

On another note, Have a customer in Madawaska, ME so I went to Fort Kent and the beginning of US-1. Gonna go to Key West to see the other end of it. Gotta remember to not bend over to pick up any coins when in Key West just like P'Town, MA.

I used to have E-Pass, it's my understanding that E-Pass is Orlando specific, but Sun Pass works in Orlando, on the turnpike, and over near Tampa too.

Either one of the toll passes will work anywhere in the state.

The only difference is the accounting agency.

Orlando's toll authority was the blueprint for the state system but the state wanted to control it's own accounting.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Thanks Joe.

What the heck, you're worth it, 3 Attaboys it is.

They both work in airport parking at Orlando as well?

Completely compatible.

Actually, being that there is no really big investment except for a $20 or $25 purchase for the sending unit, if you find a problem with one, switch to the other.

Tanks for da 3 Attaboys!! :-)
