Earlier this year, Devin Moore, now 20, was on trial for the 2003 triple homicide of three Alabama policemen. While in detention for stealing a car, Moore grabbed the pistol of one officer and used it to fatally shoot a total of three of them.
The defense mounted a case based on a childhood full of mental and physical abuse, as well as an affinity for violent games. One game in particular, Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto III, was singled out, because gamers can steal cars and kill cops in it. Moore had said he was inspired by the PlayStation 2 game.
In August, a jury swiftly convicted Moore of the charges. And today, a judge laid down the most severe punishment the justice system allows.
Moore will be put to death by lethal injection. Defense attorney Jim Standridge will appeal the case.
The victims' families have sued Take-Two Interactive (parent company of Rockstar), Sony, Wal-Mart, and GameStop for their parts in the manufacturing and selling of the game.

LOL!
20 years old? And this was the defense? If the guy does not have an obvious mental impairment/documentable low IQ, etc. I'm quite sure that ineffective assistance of counsel (or whatever the exact phrase is) will be part of his appeal.

How about folks quit blaming video games, rock music, and actually take responsibility for their own actions? Sure, music, television, and video games have a big impact on the way we think if we saturate our minds with it enough but that doesn't excuse murder. People in general just piss me off.

He's a murderer. Does his race really matter?

His race does not matter to me, I don't care if the a$$hole is purple or blue or green.
I was commenting on the mass media reporting and their reluctance to show a picture of this bastard strictly because he is black.
But if he were White or Asian his picture would have been plastered all over the 4 or 5 dozen web sites reporting on the issue, and Katie Couric would be conducting dozens of weepy interviews asking if this sort of crime was an epidemic with gamers.
If he were gay and he had raped a little boy his sexual orientation would not have been mentioned either, after all men who rape little boys aren't gay according to the PC crowd.
So I have to assume that you feel that the mass media doesn't have a bias or agenda in their reporting or their lack there of?
Sometimes the things unspoken speak more than the things that were.

I agree with you comments. MSM is reluctant to mention a fugitives skin color because their afraid of being politically incorrect.

"This is the best picture I could find. The mass media seems to be trying to hide the fact that he is a negro."
Negro? Haven't heard that word used since 1965. I do think however they are trying to hide the fact he is black.

I was never a big believer in how much games, music and tv affected people until I went to the bar with some buddies after listening to Rage Against the Machine for 2 hours. Of 10 people 6 got kicked out for fighting. Apparently drinking and listening to someone scream "F*** you I won't do what you tell me" leads to some anger issues.
Still I would have to say it is still the person responsible. The entertainment may help it seem like a good idea but ultimately the person has to take responsibility.

In 1978-1979 I worked at a gas station across the street from a movie theater that showed kung-fu movies every Saturday.
We had a large population of Vietnamese boat people who had settled in the area, and hundreds would line up every Saturday morning to get in to the theater. They were very orderly and subdued.
When the theater opened it's doors after the movie, the same quiet restrained people would be playfully "kung-fuing" each other and karate chopping and kicking everything in sight. That happened EVERY time the movie let out, EVERY Saturday for over a year.

It might just be me, but it looks like he is in a court room and not wearing a tie. Word to the wise, if you have to appear in front of a judge, show respect and wear a damm tie and button the top button!
The kid got what he deserved! May he rot in hell.

Death penalty bump.
I think this was the case featured on 60 minutes, where they seem to blame the games as an excuse for these murders. Thanks for the update.
