Game 2 Live Thread! Chicago leads series 1-0
Pettite vs. Buehrle
I still get the feeling it won't be a sweep. Whomever wins it'll prob be in 6 or even 7. Oswalt starts for Astros next game.
Thanks again for doing these threads, raccoonradio. Hope you can catch glimpses of games 3 and 4 at work.
Anyone else up for starting threads for Games 3 and 4?
I think what stings the most is that the umps union has blocked the use of instant replay. Of course it is unworkable for balls and strikes (though a uniform electronic strike zone has been feasible for years), but should be used for other controversial calls. Lack of accountability makes a person sloppy.
A?? it was more than one bad call, and in more than one game.
Go Sox.
You have no relievers to turn to then. You have to do the best with what you have. Qualls, Wheeler, and Lidge all had bad nights. The Sox Jenks screwed up too. It must suck pitching in the rain.
If it can't be _my_ Sox let it be _your_ Sox! (Go AL...)
I know...that was bad wasn't it...I wanted to see the crowd going nuts
You can predict all you want. I'll value your opinion for what it's worth. Enjoy the moment.
I agree...just wishful thinking LOL
It won't be a sweep, most of the team has way too much pride and spunk to allow that. This game won't bring them down, but the hole in the bullpen (2 soft heads) is too big for them to overcome now.
If he pitches like he did in the two games against the Cards, Game 3 looks very good for Houston. But Garland is tough, too. So if it goes to the bullpens, who knows?
Only one made a difference in any game.
I bring in a 5" black and white portable TV and watch during breaks. Otherwise I listen on the radio. The ESPN Radio stations in Boston aren't powerful so I have to try someone else like WBAL (AM 1090) out of Baltimore...and my work area doesn't have the best reception so I use a mini-boombox or AM-FM-CD player tuned to 1090--then I put a mini-FM transmitter and broadcast on a certain frequency. Result: clear reception (with some "fade out" on occasion) via a Walkman.
I am intentionally taking Thu. night off from work so I can catch game 5, and games 6 and 7 will also be on nights off.
Here's what the mini FM transmitter looks like ($20 at WalMart). People use it to play their Ipods in the car.
I am enjoying the moment..as for my opinion...I think that may be a bit biased(since Ive been a SOX fan all my life)LOL
Kinda wish they could BOTH win...but again, realize I come from an AL city (Boston) so I cheer slightly more for
White Sox...even though they beat my Red Sox in the first round!
A friend of mine from Cle. wants the Astros to win--because
the White Sox beat out the Tribe for the Cent. division.
For the record I have been to "New Comiskey" aka US Cellular
Field twice, in 1997 and 1998...sat in upper decks. Not too bad. One time I got to see the White Sox play (and lose to)
Pedro M. and the Red Sox. Wrigley is closer to the old-
time Fenway type of park, though.
Garland will hold the 'stros to two runs or less for 6 innings. Sox have a better bullpen. Advantage: Sox, even though they will be playing in Houston.
We're on a mission from Gahd.
Thanks for answering!
Wrigley is the BEST of baseball parks. I was @ Comiskey about 8 years ago (first time I ever went to a White Sox game bein as I am a Cubs fan) but for now I'm a fan of both. Chicago needs a world series winner. I miss Chicago.
