Game 2 Live Thread! Chicago leads series 1-0
Pettite vs. Buehrle
Jenks is gone...Cotts (sp.?) coming in to face Lamb.
Interesting 9th inning! As I've said before I do like both teams but am cheering slightly more for White Sox: being the AL team; the long drought between championships--but having the Astros win wouldn't be bad either as they had their
own drought.
The "predictions" about starting pitching, bullpen/closers,
hitting, etc., haven't necessarily come true.
Can Astros pull this out? If so it becomes a best of 5,
with the first 3 at Houston.
Or will Chi. send the series to Texas with an 2-0 lead?
Ugh... don't remind me of that. Painful memory... :-(
Reminds me of the time Abe Lemons started his show by rising up from a coffin and saying "We're not dead yet!"
You'd have few players left on your team and few players that would want to join your team if you dump them for a single bad play. Players screwup. You just have to stick with the ones that screwup least.
Wha? This isn't breaking news??
Of course it doesn't discount how good the Sox are, but it unfortunately taints the games and series a bit. Not huge, unless they continue to pile up and continue to be of such a magnitude. That's 2 series in a row in almost the same exact pivotal setting where a bad call may have turned a series (or maybe not, we'll never know for sure.) And Houston did benefit from a crummy call against the Cardinals, but not several in multiple series.
You were whining that the analysts shouldn't dwell on it. Unfortunately, it is a significant part of the storyline. Perhaps you should reach for the cheese.
Like I said, the idiotic pitching of Qualls was the biggest factor, but the bad call was a part.
NICE slide by Burke!
Astros just tied the game. Aren't you watching? It was beautiful.
Astro fans might want to think back to the phantom call (OUT) on the tag on Molina in the Cards series. That too, changed the whole dynamic of the series if we are going to play a game of "what if's." It goes both ways.
Is that 'Trading Spouses' lady an Astros fan?
SOX WIN 7-6(shameless predidtion) LOLOLOL
Last year it was obvious who I cheered for--my Red Sox. In '03, I cheered for "the team that wasn't the Yankees"--Marlins! (Won.) In '02, I cheered for the AL team,
the Angels, and they won. In '01, first year of the curse of
you know who, I cheered for the Team That Wasn't The Yankees
and they, Diamondbacks, won (feat. R. Johnson and Curt
Schilling). In '00, I cheered for the Team That Wasn't
The Yankees...and they lost (Mets? IIRC).. etc.
Oh yeah, going to the bottom of the 9th now w/the Sox up.
That's why it was a very, very bad pitch...
It's not good to count your chickens before they hatch, so bite your tongue!

PODSEDNIK HR WINS IT FOR WHITE SOX! 7-6
