This is a rather simple thread; who do YOU think is the classiest player (or players, if you have multiple choices) currently playing? You may even list a team.
On the flip side, what about those with the least class (points at Randy Moss)? You may even list a team (points at Vikings).
Also, you may even list those who have played and gone (players from the older days had a lot of class. Remember Gale Sayers?).
Who's your choice?
As for most classy team...well, the Giants have always been a pretty professional team. Their lack of cheerleaders (big plus in my book) is a pretty good indicator of this.
And the Manning brothers are both pretty professional and well-mannered guys.
Who's YOUR player of choice?
Die hard 'Skins fan here-I would say Joe Gibbs return injects some class into that team. They needed it after that nut bought them..
Terrell Owens makes Keyshawn Johnson look like Mother Theresa.
Remember Michael Barrow? He was a good one. And of course, there's Eli Manning. :^)
Oh my God, I can't BELIEVE I forgot Owens. I KNEW I was missing someone...
I am no football expert, but I believe (?) Brett Favre (Packers) and Tom Brady (Patriots) are pretty decent guys...
This will be strange since I'm a Patriots fan for almost thirty years, but Jerome Bettis has always conducted himself like a gentleman off the field. In years past when other Steelers were trash talking up a storm, he stuck out as being dignified.
On a related side note, I once read in Sports Illustrated a while back that a typical NBA agent devotes most of his time to dealing with paternity cases.
Not classy: The Minnesota Vikings (AKA the Love Boaters)
...and I grew up in Minnesota!
Bengal quarterback Carson Palmer is proving to be a class act. Bengal head coach Marvin Lewis is definitely a class act.
This one I have to think about for a while. So many to choose from......
Classiest player- Bret Favre. Over the years he has played with all his heart, through injuries, family tragedies, and has always kept his composure. On the field he never talks trash or acts like a big baby. I have been a fan since the early 90's for these very reasons.
Peyton Manning is proving to be very classy IMO during this dominating season for the Colts.
Elway- never liked the Broncos, but can't help but like the guy.
Least classy- The entire Vikings team. Even before this last utterly dispicable incident they were involved in, they have been punks. The fans even for the most part are rude, which I have experienced first-hand.
Me thinks you have a Giants bias :)
I agree with the Manning brothers, Peyton is a class act and Eli seems to be as well.
You mean "tough odor" Owens.
The guy comes off as a real jack***.
T.O. makes for a nice jack ass.
Jerry Rice was ultimate class. I've always found Warren Sapp to be one of the most annoying players in the history of the league. It's not so much that he's a bad guy, just a guy with a big mouth, but he gets interviewed probably three times as much as any other player with similar credentials. The NFL channel was the worst. They used to interview Sapp at least fifteen times a week. The guy can make two tackles in a losing effort, and still be the feature game interview.
Ray Lewis probably did more to solidify the image of the NFL as a bunch of street thugs than any other three players. Bill Romanofski (sp?) used to spit on players during games, and generally could have been a poster boy for steroid rage. Emitt Smith was pure class. So is Teddy Bruschi, but I wish he'd stay retired. I hate the thought of him walking around like Jerry Quarry or Ali in a few years.
I know a lot of Freepers don't like him, but I think Peyton Manning has done a great job of being a team player.
Least classy FOOTBALL player: Joey "twinkletoes" Harrington.
To steal a comment: I expect/hope to see him cry on the football field....
I AGREE!!
